My daughter is deaf, profoundly deaf, and we are learning Signed English as a family. Any one else using sign language as a language and not just a teaching tool for hearing children?

My kids' father and I are both deaf and we use ASL to ensure that the kids can communicate with both of us.

My son is hard of hearing which is why we sign. He pulls his HA out all the time so we wanted a way to communicate when he wasn't listening. We use ASL but we stick to nouns and verbs. He also is developmentally disabled so we don't get into sentences.
