My Husband and I only let our daughter watch Baby Signs DVDs. She has been signing since she was 8mos old! It has been so very helpful for us all. Our daughter is now 19mos old and will pick which one she wants to watch & will so the sign & say some of the words when she sees it on TV. Bee-Bos Playhouse is the best for signing babies. We also have Baby Einstein (maybe watched it twice- don't care for it but, LOVE Baby Signs DVDs & would highly recommend it!!!).

Signing time with Alex and Leah is the best signing video we have ever used, my son was nonverbal with autism and his early intervention therapist used this video and he was flying through the DVDs faster than any kid she has ever seen, he learned all the signs and then started talking about 9 months ago so the signing has faded but these cideos are the best out there, no lie these are the ones that work for deaf children as well..here it is on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R34...
It is wonderful your teaching your children to sign, it really helps them advance so much in language and improves memorization skills, good luck!

the Noblesville Library has a free class for sign language and some really good books too! Good luck. It is a great way to get your little one communicating and fun too!

I use the Baby Signs program with my son. we love it. There are fun books, dvds, and flash cards to use with your child. There are also helpful books for you as well. Then when you are ready to start potty training they have a program to that as well. you can check it out at babysignsprogram.com/withkarenlynn or babysigns.com. I choose this program because it is research based with proven results and is nationally recognized.

Baby Signing time is the way to go! We bought all of the videos and show one every other day. My daughter knows several hundres signs now! Also, aslpro.com is an asl website with videos for any other sign you want to learn which are not on baby signing time videos.
Good luck!

we bought the videos Baby Signing Time. www.BabySigningTime.com

They are the best videos! Our son just loves them! He is 16 months right now (we started early with him), and he can do several signs. right now we are working on volume three. I think your 5 year old would love them too. good luck!

Here's a few other good resources:

http://www.mysmarthands.com

http://www.babies-and-sign-language.com/

Both sites have directories for different areas and can help you find an instructor. If classes aren't right for you these sites have a lot of good info to help. The Signing Time videos are also great...you can buy them from their website (link on the home page of My Smart Hands) or even get them at your local library, most likely.

Best of luck!

In every state and most big cities there are Instructors with a company called Sign2Me. You can go to www.sign2me.com and look up your state/city and see where classes are held. I am an Instructor in MS and I hold sign language classes and Sing and Sign classes for babies, toddlers/preschoolers. Classes are fun and a great way to meet people who are interested in this too. A great video is Signing Time www.signingtime.com
