I know it says to wait til age one and/or 20lbs to switich to front facing. My 7mo old is 19lb14oz as of 3/16/11. Being in the 95th % tile for her age; her legs are squished in the rear facing position. I have gotten out a front facing carseat. Since the seat belt isnt long enough for rear facing; I had to place it front facing. but the seat does go back into a recline position. i havent put her in it yet and went anywhere. but it is in the car and adjusted to her for the straps. i was just curious about views on this. or shoudl i just keep her squished and uncomfortable til 12 mo? i switched my oldest to front facing at 11 mo.

Legally, they have to be one year old or 20 lbs. However, it's safest to leave them rear facing as long as possible, preferably 35-40 lbs. There are plenty of reasonably priced carseats out there that will rear face longer. I will find a video to show WHY it is so important to leave them rearfacing so long.
