Ok... This isn't just a typical rash... It is almost considered extreme, it just hasn't gotten to the point of bleeding yet. My 17 month old has had it now for almost 4 weeks. It doesn't seem to bother her more than just itching, but when I put something on it, she seems ok. I have taken her to the doctor, and they said I am doing everything right, and to just keep trying. It's not a yeast rash or anything like that. But it won't go away!! It will look a little bit better for part of the day, usually after I let her run around naked for a bit to air out. Then over night, even changing her 2 or 3 times throughout the night, it gets worse again. Here are the things I have tried, and please, if you know of anything else, let me know! I just want my poor baby girl's bottom to clear up!!

Bordeaux's Butt Paste
Desitin
Vasaline
Resinol
Hydrocortisone
Corn Starch
Dr. Scholl's for Her Cracked Skin creme

I don't use wipes on her unless she poops and it's absolutely necessary. Doc said extra wiping irritates it more. I let her soak in water in the tub, which seems to help, but again... over night, it gets worse. I let her run around naked, which is extremely messy, and trying on my patience!! I just don't know what to do. There HAS to be a solution!! Please help!!

It might not be a yeast rash but my daughter had bad rashes and the only thing that work was yeast infection medicine.

If it is not the diapers then try Nystantin. It is another form of diaper rash cream. Both of my girls have had to use it because they have been to the point of bleeding. That clears it up within a couple of days.

also waht new have you tried with her food wise? She could be allergic to a food that she is eating and that can be her reaction. My 2 year old is allergic to peanuts and that is what happens to her if she has anything that has been processed with the peanuts.

Aslo if you dont know what she is allergic to then have her tested. If she is on whole milk then she could be allergic to the fatty parts of it. A friend of mine had that problem and then learned that her daughter was allergic to the fatty parts in milk and butter and things like that.

Those are just some ideas. I hope that you can find the answer. Good luck. I know it's hard.

i am going to try diff brand diapers today and see how that goes. i haven't nursed in 5 months, so i'm no longer lactating, and right now, don't have any mommy friends that are. i know breast milk is good for stuff like that. just can't get ahold of any. i can try to get referred to a diff doc, but i'm on medicaid, and here, for medicaid to cover it, you HAVE to be referred by your doc to go anywhere else, even the hospital. thank you for ur help!

have you tried switching diaper brands? I know my son tends to break out in a rash easier in some brands versus others. You may even want to try cloth diapers.

also you may want to try breastmilk - I kid you not! if you aren't lactating, ask a friend to pump some. just spread it on your little girl's toosh several times a day.

finally - you can ask to see another doctor, or even for a referral to a pediatric dermatologist.
