my daughter brushes her teeth when i do, it makes her feel like a "big girl" shes only 16 months and loves. I also give her the tooth brush before bed or whenever she wants it with a bit of baby toothpaste and she'll walk around and chew on it.

Just start by giving her the toothbrush to play with and let her watch you, she will soon get the idea.

My daughter loves Dora so I got the toddlers toothpaste by Crest plus the toothebrush with Dora on it. I found it helpful when I would stand her on the countertop in front of the mirror so that she can see what was going on. It eventually became easier for me to brush her teeth that way. Sometimes I let her brush them herself, but she is still in front of the mirror. Hope this helps you...good luck.

Quoting Candice:
i brush my teeth while she "brushes" hers...she usually chews the toothbrush but is learning slowly. then i put baby toothpaste on my brush and we play "i do yours, you do mine". she wouldn't let me try to help her with HER brush, but i discovered she'll let me do her teeth with my brush. funny kid.
Looks like i'm not the only mom who plays this game.. my 11 month old son refuses to let me brush his teeth unless he gets to brush mine too. Although he tends to gag me he at least is getting his done.

I allow my 11 month old to play w/ his toothbrush (no paste). Just to get him comfortable w/ it. I make it a point to brush my teeth in front of him and them I put the paste on his brush and brush his teeth. He fusses at first, but the more I goof around while brushing, the more he likes it. It might work for you.

have you tried he baby toothpastes? gerber and orajel both make them and they come with a small finger cap to brush their teeth with, and its flavored strawberry banana so it tastes good to them. i started brushing my sons teeth as soon as he started to get them. and now i dont have any problems (save for when he tried to bite my finger lol)
if those dont work, at least try using a baby washcloth that is damp with warm water to get any plaque or build up off the teeth and if your still giving her a bed time bottle, keep a bottle next to you that has about an oz of water in it and when her regular bottle is done, carefully switch it out for the water and it will rinse some of the milk/formula off her teeth and out of her mouth.
