I'm in the process of developing a fitness/wellness program aimed at single moms. Basically I'm taking all the steps and lessons I've learned over the last decade, including my experience of getting physically, emotionally and mentally fit as a single mom. I've combined it into an easy to follow program. The program includes short lessons and activities on nurtrition, self awareness and fitness. I believe that the more you know about yourself and your body the easier it is to make good choices - even when tight on time and finances.
It's still in the works but I am wondering if something like this would appeal to you single moms out there?? :) I'd love to hear your inital thoughts and responses!

I'm interested also. I'm a single mom of four kids and have my grand baby here. I do have lots of experience cooking healthy and getting my kids to eat healthy also.

I am extremely interested. I am going to svhool, work full time and live in AZ where it is to HOT to go outside and do anything. If I had something I could pop into the DVD once or twice a day that would be great!

I think that is a great idea, I actually have been interested in doing something like that as well. Although, I am not a single mom, I know how hard it is to get back into shape after having a baby. Most fitness facilities wont accept babies until they are at least 6 months and a lot of new mom's would like to start getting back to there pre-baby weight before that. I have been thing about starting a personal training business for new moms, where you can bring your baby at any age. A place that focuses on getting you back in shape but also knowing that you need to attend to a newborn. I think its a great idea, and if I did not have 4 young children I would start it up. I say go for it and the best of luck to you.

I'm interested too! I've had a membership to a gym since my child was born (3.6 years) and I much prefer the classes they offer for the social aspect. However, most of the classes are designed for SAHMs (during working hours), conflict with "the call", or conflict with their child care hours. So, I can get more benefit by hitting the park with kiddo and trying to keep up (lol!).
I've also had a tough time transitioning from a drive-thru diet to a healthier diet (more vegetarian, but not completely!) as I can't find ANY place that's close to home where I can learn how to actually COOK a variety of foods that ARE healthy.

I think this is a great idea! I was also once a single parent and exercise was my saviour! It an extremely rewarding and proud feeling knowing you can look after yourself which in turn is good for your child. looking after yourself as a single mother means your doing this for yourself and your child. I live in Ibiza Spain and would love to be able to set up a programme like this. Im now a zumba instructor and would like to get a reps recognised course under my belt as Id like to continue with helping people improve themselves, mind, body and outlook. Once you have put this into practise id be interested in any offer you have to make it available here??? I think it would work for any Mom and also there are a large number of elderly people who now have time and aren't comfortable in going to the gym. Sharon x

I would be interested if the price was right! As a single mom who is unemployed, unhealthy and unfit right now if it wasn't too expensive I would go for it. Also, remember as a single mom or just a mom in general I rarely spend money on myself unless it is a neccessity.

Hi. I am VERY interested. After working all day then coming home and doing everything...I'm too tired to do anything, sometimes even get into pajamas! Anything that could motivate me would be wonderful. I am really not happy with the fact I haven't lost my baby weight. Thanks for putting this out there and I look forward to learning more!

I am interested as well. I have been looking for a program to help me lose weight and get back on track but as a single mom I find it impossible to find the time or money to do it

Love this idea. It is important for us to take care of ourselves so we can be the best we can be for ourselves and our kids.

It would consist of a 7 week e-course where videos or mp3's would be emailed to you at the beginning of the week. Each vid would be 10-15 min long and there'd be a little bit of homework - cause taking action is a necessary step.

As of now the outline is like this:
1) Get your head in the game
2) Get your sweat on - endorphins and empowerment
3) Self awareness
4) Forgivness and acceptance
5) Know your numbers
6) Planning and prep - mazimize your time
7) nutrition 101 for you and your little one

I also should mention that I am not a registered nutritionist, counsellor or fitness expert. (Eventhough I do plan on getting certified as a fitness instructor) I'm just a regular woman who through personal research and experience figured out a lot about getting healthy and how to do it as a single mom. I'm a teacher by trade, and that's all I plan on doing - teaching what I've learned and experienced.
