I've been told that if you need help with getting a dna test and a child support order you can go throught the District Attorney and they will provide you with free services....it this in every state(i live in florida)? Has anyone gone and this route and has it been successful? anything thoughts are helpful!!

I've been there and done that. Just go to your local Child Support Enforcement (CSE) office. I used to live in Florida (my daughter was born there). CSE will track down the biological father (if you have no idea where he is) and request that he take a DNA test. If he doesn't comply he will be listed as the father. Just make sure that said man is the father or you will have to pay for the DNA test. If he is the father and the test is 99.9% he will have to pay for the DNA test. He will also incur any charges for having papers served against him for said test. Dept. of Revenue (DOR) will do the rest. DOR will set court dates for child support. My ex owes $20.00 to the sheriff for papers being served, he owes I don't know how much for the actual DNA test and he owes DOR $444 for the actual prosecution of the case for child support. I never paid a dime. He also owes his daughter $250.00 a month until he is caught up with his back child support and then when he is caught up with that it drops down to $223.00 a month. Course, we've only seen a months worth of child support from him. Also, DOR will put a lien on any income tax return that your ex might file. We have a lien on my ex's tax return so when he files his tax return part or maybe even all of his tax return will come to us to clear up part of his owed back child support. So hopefully I've helped you out a little. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me. I'll help you in any way I can.

I hate to be so personal but what county do you live? Maybe I just got lucky by living in Marion County (Ocala, Fl.) because while it took a few months to get things rolling once they got rolling they didn't stop. Granted it was a few months between court dates but it was all over in less than a year. Even the test results were rushed and expedited because he had screwed around so long and refused (there was a problem with his address for some reason) to take the test. I don't know who you've been talking to as far as your case goes but you need to get in touch with someone who can help you. Have you talked to CSE at all?

I've actually been dealing with DOR since 2006 and they've gotten me no where. I know exactly where my child's father lives and they have the address but said that it needs to be verified thorought the post office but he know's how the system works it he doesn't recieve any mail at his home it goes to his mother's home in the next town....he got married in 2007 and they wouldn't even take the address where his wife lives and serve him...i don't understand, clearly he would be living with his wife so why can't they even try....i feel like i'm fighting a losing battle......i live 4 hours away from him so there's not much I'm able to do since I work full time and go to school part time.....I've spoken with a lawyer who said they can hire a P.I. and serve and but that cost money that I don't have......i'm so frustrated with the whole situation but i know that i owe it to my daughter to do the best that I can with trying to get a DNA at least to prove that this is his child.......I don't know, i'm just so......ughhh you know? the sad thing is that he has several children and he doesn't do anything for them we've all be dealing with DOR and they havent done much for any of us. 1 mom got a DNA done 6 years ago but I was told that they can't use the sample becuase it's past 6-12 months. which i don't understand because how do they test DNA from 25 years ago to try in a murder case!! sorry to ramble but I needed to get that out!! but thanks for your help!

I'm in IL, and here if you get on public assistance you can do that.  We also have a "firm" that is based on your income.
