She is totally against any new clothes or shoes. We end up buying her stuff and taking it back, or giving them to charity if the shops won't accept them back. Me and my mum have both totally had enough of her wearing stuff that is ripped, tatty or far to small. We both get all types of stuff and get arhh thats disgusting i am not wearing that, then a complete screaming session from her until I remove her toys for unacceptable behaviour. This does nothing for her trying stuff on etc, including school uniform. We have even taken her to the shops and spent £100 in total on a brand new wardrobe full of things and most of it still has the price tag in them, but I refused to return them as she had tried them all on and picked them herself. Friends have said to leave her in her scruff but when we go to parties, holidays and especially visiting it is completely embarrassing for me and my mum. Any suggestions would be very welcome as I am at the end of my tether with her and her complete attitude to new things. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply Sandi. Some of her stuff is from charity and everything we grow out of whatever the state go to our charity shop as my mum used to run one and they sell all the scrap stuff to the ragman as they called him. Yes I have taken away all the clothes that are not suitable to go out and she wore her school uniform instead so didn't quite work as I had hoped so put the better stuff back in. We did have a breakthrough tonight with her as we went to the pub for a surprise tea and she wore a new dress and she loved it so have to keep fingers crossed she will carry on with the new stuff and I will be emptying wardrobe again tomorrow while she at school so she can't go back.

Would she be willing to wear things from resale shops? Maybe buy her clothing there instead.

Dispose (donate the clothing that can still be worn) of the clothes that are ratty, torn, too small. Unless she wants to go naked, she'll wear what is in her closet/wardrobe.
