Make sure that you have a clear routine in your day/week. That way your child will learn when it's appropriate to be calm, to play, meal times etc.. Children love routine, and thrive on it, as they know what's coming next. I have a routine with my three daughters (who are older), but they know what's expected off them day by day during the week and what to expect during the day. They know that the routine is slightly flexible as well, depending on what else is happening (e.g. going to see friends/family) and also what we're doing the next day. I have what I call a school day routine and a holiday routine. When they've got school the next day, then they normally go to bed slightly earlier than when it's the school holidays/weekends. If we've got to be somewhere by a set time (e.g. school) then in the morning they get dressed before they have breakfast. If we don't have plans then they have breakfast first before getting dressed.
Worth looking at naps that your child has during the day - could it be reduced, even if it's only by a few minutes.
Up the level of physical activity. This can be from playing in the garden or play room to walking more of the school run (making sure that you've got the buggy with you so that you've got it as a backup).
