How do you get through the first year of holidays without you babys daddy?

Everytime I see anything that reminds me of Christmas I want to cry. It hurts so much to not have my childrens dad here with us for Christmas. We were together for 8 years and have a 5 year old and a 11 month old. He left me in July for an 18 year old and I am having a hard time without him and with the holidays coming I feel so depressed. Not sure how to get through it.

My youngest daughters father died when she was 3 months old, Aug 2008, & so last christmas was our first without him. It was hard & we didn't feel like celebrating. All you can do is try to carry on much like normal as possible as your children will look to you for a lead. I am finding it hard to imagine christmas again this year without him as people kind of expect to get over things after a certain period of time but real life doesn't work like that. My girls know I love them & really thats all that matter & thats all you should worry about, be the best mummy you can & show them you don't need him to make you fantastic! good luck xxx

I know it is hard and it hurts like hell when you see anything that resembles a holiday and brings back any kind of memory. The best way to get through it is to focus on who you do have with you this christmas. Your kids, family, friends... You have the best Christmas gift - love and support. It does get easier as years go on. This hurting is only part of the experience that makes life just that much more bearable for the next holiday and the next... Oh, and if you feel yourself getting into a deep depressive funk, throw yourself into a craft. I made like 1500 christmas cookies the year my son's father left us.

Focus on your children. play games do fun things to give them good memories. i know it's hard but u have to put on your game face and do it for them.
