How long does my Child's father have to go without any contact before I can file for abandonment?

My daughter's father has seen her once for 30 minutes in the past two years and this visit was on Jan 1, 2009. Can I go for sole custody and have his rights taken away due to abandonment?

If you are receiving any government aid financially and he is on the birth certificate. Eventually they will do things to get him to pay back some of the money. This had happened to my daughter. When they wouldn't let her ex renew his driver's licence until he paid up. He contacted her for a reduction ( he hadn't paid so that was a laugh ) I told her the time was ripe to get him to sign adoption papers to her present husband. It worked !

Tennessee is not so kind... abandonment is not considerd unless he does not pay child support for two years also but the catch is they put him in jail and garnish his check reguardless so that wont happen for me.

2 un interrupted years.... that means no card/letters or attempts to make contact.. I have hoped mine would do this!
