Lots of churches have free play days at their preschool nursery, or they host them at local parks. Your local churches are great resources. Also check local community centers. My local community center has an indoor play park twice a week. It's 2 dollars per day, or you can get a monthly card for 10.00 and the kids come into the gym and there is tons of play equipment and balls etc. It's a great way to socialize your child.

MOPS is a free group. It stands for Mothers Of Pre Schoolers. While the moms have weekly meetings (usually Friday afternoons I think) about parenting issues the kids do educational activities and arts and crafts. Again, they frequently use churches as their meeting place. Do an online search or call local churches to see if there is a local chapter meeting in your area.

Most of those places should be near bus routes so getting to the community centers, churches, parks should be fairly easy.

Oh, one more thing. Usually you can search online for free family activities in your area. My local paper showcases things to do, and I take advantage of that at every opportunity.
