Hi everyone,

My name is Catherine and I'm a health reporter with The Huffington Post. Sorry to intrude here, but I'm working on a story about a new study that suggests that single moms have worse health outcomes after 40, and I'm hoping you can help. I want to really ground the piece in the stories and opinions of single moms who have actually lived this, day-to-day. Have you had any health issues? Do you think they could be related to the stress of being a single parent? Or do you think this whole idea is nonsense?

If anyone would be willing to share their story, I can send you a few quick questions via e-mail or we can speak on the phone -- whatever's easier. I have to file the piece by tomorrow afternoon -- say, 3ish --, so it'd need to be ASAP.

Thanks for any help you're able to provide.

Warmly,
Catherine Pearson

Hi Catherine,
I'm single, over 40 and have a 3.5 year old daughter. I haven't had any major health issues since giving birth and neither have any of my single mom friends over 40 with young children.

I feel like I am not in as good of shape as before I had the baby, because I am unable to work out as much as I had before, and also I eat less healthy/more junk food. I'm not sure why, but my guess is I'm too busy/tired to cook/care.

I can imagine that the stress of being a single parent *could* make one sick. I do have a little fear of getting sick and not being able to care for my daughter, or losing health insurance. But, so far so good and generally I have a good attitude about it.

I'm curious to know if older single women (over 50) with older children, who have stayed single throughout are more likely to develop health problems. I know you're on a deadline, but you may pose the question to this community: http://www.circleofmoms.com/mums-over-40...
