I have hyperthyroidism. I was asked to stop my medications and I am now pregnant about 2 months. I'm concerned & need advise.

i have hyperthyroidism and was diagnosed with it at 20. when i got pregnant at 22, i was still on daily medication (3 times a day). So it was quite worrying to have to stop taking the meds all at once. However, my doctor told me to keep a look out for any heart palpitations, sudden drastic weight loss or shaky hands and said i could take a minimal dose. you should check with your doctor if you should do the same.
hope this helps! all the best with your pregnancy!

I actually have hypothyroidism and I had it for a while and I didn't know because I never experienced any of the symptoms. I found out after I was pregnant because I had a constant sinus infection and they said it might be another disorder, I was checked and what do ya know, I have hypothyroidism. It was a shock, but my doctor and a supportive family helped me deal with the possiblity of things. I wish you the best of luck! :)

I have no thyroid at all (was like that at birth) Main thing is to get levels checked frequently. I also was not allowed to take any pregnancy vitamins cos they contain Iodine which I cannot process.

Congrats!
Well I dont have a thyroid at all. I had thyroid cancer when I was 22. So Ive been on meds. I was on meds thru out my pregnancy. They just had to do a blood test every 2-3 months to make sure I was on the proper amount. Talk to your doctor about a specialist

Been there! I have hyperthyroidism too and when I was pregnant it helped to keep it under control. But there is medication that you can take while pregnant. The one am on was safe and it is Propyl-Thyracil. Talk to your doctor about it cause I was told by three different doctors it was safe. There are also many foods to help. Go online and type in hyperthyroidism and foods but talk to your doctor about all of them first. Hope this help! Congrats with the baby on the way!
