I had my daughter and sons photo put on a cake and just had pink and blue table wear a 1st birthday banner and balloons. As long as you have fun, lots of photos, and family all around you nothing else is really needed as unfortunately they don't remember any of it. Its all our lovely memories during these events. If you wanted to do the extra mile the best thing to go for is your daughters favourite program or toy and build up around that. Teddy bears tea party, disney princesses, looney tunes, are a few I can think of at the moment. Just have fun enjoy the day and the rest of it will fall into place on its own. Hope you find the right theme for you.

my daughter is making her 1st birthday on Feb 18 and im so excited (u would think its my birthday). i chose for her a minnie mouse theme, she seems to enjoy looking at the colours and characters of the mickey mouse club house. she dances to the theme song when ever she hears it. if u cant decide go to a party site (partycity.com was recommended to me) and see wha u can find. u have quite some time left. hope u find something nice

OH WHAT A FUN TIME!! THE ONLY THING I WISH TO ADD TO THE OTHER POSTS IS TO MAKE SURE YOU BUY A SMALL INDIVIDUAL CAKE FOR YOUR DAUGHTER TO GO TO TOWN AND GET IT ON VIDEO AND TAKE LOTS OF PIX. THAT WILL BE THE BEST MEMORY FOR ALL OF THE YEARS TO COME. THEN OF COURSE HAVE YOUR CAKE FOR ALL OF THE GUESTS. ENJOY, THEY GROW UP WAY TOO FAST.

Another idea is a ball party. Every little kid likes balls =] you can buy little foam balls at the doller stor and give them out as favors for the kids there. Balls can also be in the same theme as dots or anything circular. the cake can be a circle, balloons, colored plates, etc.

My daughter's first birthday theme was Under the Sea. She's a July baby so her birthday was a bbq at the park. We had a ocean themed cake, clear blue candy bags with a swirly straw with a hand made fishy hanging from it (like a fishing pole). i used white butcher paper as table covers and drew fishes, an octopus, sea weed, etc on it. It was easy and fun and simple.
My daughter's second birthday this July is going to be Pink themed....Pink everything. lol. Different shades and textures of pink. I think this time, the butcher paper would be a good idea for the table cloth again sice she loves to color and there will be other little kids so they can color while their parents eat. lol. I also want to get a little pink jump house since she loves to be in them.

they have a lot of first birthday options at a party store. i did blues clues for one, elmo for one, and winnie the pooh for another... or you could do something all together different and do flowers or something! hand craft something... you could do a cupcake cake!! that is so tough! i would go with what she is into... which is kinda hard with a one year old!! they are into everything that has nothing to do with being a baby (like your computer or your pop bottle!!). good luck with deciding, but whatever you do it will be fun and cute... just make sure that you schedule the party around her nap.

I went to birthdayinabox.com and ordered the animal theme decorations. It was absolutely adorable! I got a costumized banner with her name on it. It didn't take long to arrive either. They had other cute themes on that site to. You should definitely check it out!
