It's hard to say since every kid is different. My girls only experienced separation anxiety half a dozen random times. My son, on the other hand, started at 6 months and was quite severe for a long time. He's 3.75 now and still has a touch of it at times.

I have had some trouble with seperation anxiety w/ my soon to be 2 yr old. It lasted a very short time, but as the schedule became regular and he understood that I would be back as soon as work was over he quit. I have a wonderful babysitter that would also talk to him and encourage him to say bye bye. Then would count down how long it would be til I came back. Such as letting him know that after he fell asleep Momma would be there to get him. Which I usually am there before he wakes up, it works out well, cuz he understand what is happening and can count on how things will happen.
