She just turned 5 months old and before this was only waking up once during the night. We already have her on solid foods as she went through a stage where i thought she was ready. Im just not sure what to do to get her to sleep. she doesnt sleep very much during the day. She will go down in her cot awake and settle herself to sleep. But then just wakes up constantly. Take last night for example she went to bed at 7:30 after having an 8oz bottle(shes breastfed but gets a bottle at night) she was then up at 10:30 to eat again, then 2, 4 where she was up till 6 as i just refused to feed her trying other thngs as i thought she couldnt possable be hungry. then 7:30 and finally up at 8:30. im just not sure what the change is or if shes actually hungry or sucking for comfort? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I breastfed for the first year of my son life. I think breastfeeding makes them not sleep as well because the breastmilk is not holding them like formula does. Breastmilk is very thin to me. Doctors say don't put baby cereal in the bottle of milk but if you do you will get some rest because the baby will sleep better. You can put a baby spoon of cereal to start off with but if you don't feel comfortable putting it in the bottle then spoon feed it to the baby by mixing it in a bowl with formula or breastmilk. Baby oatmeal is the best but start with the baby rice cereal first. Let me know how things work out for you.

She might be going through a growth spirt. my son did the same thing at about the same age but he woke every hour for a few nights and he was having a full bottle every time i don't know how he fitted it all in. She might have growing pains also. Just keep taking it day by day it will get better it doesn't last forever.

Good luck.
