ok i have waited 3 months for a paternity test to go through from social worker and its taking forever so i was wondering if i can get my baby's doctor to do a genetic testing with the supposed father of my child to find out if he is indeed the parent and also for the medical reasons for my child having issues. do you think they'll allow it since medicad pays for it?

All you can do is ask your baby's doctor! I would call the paternity test people every day seriously and ask how the test is going or when it will be taken!

Im going threw it right now...but i paid 450 but i went threw dna diagnostics center,takes 3 days for the resluts..and i know they do it in new york

I did mine through domestics when my son was 8 months old. I didn't have to pay for it and when child support was set up it was the father's responsibililty to pay for it. I think Medicaid does pay for it though because the first guy I had tested through domestics(when my son was 7 weeks old) wasn't the father, of course, and I didn't receive a bill for the test.

www.gfilab.com the website will give u instructions on what to do but you just use qtips for the swabs

gfi labs is who we used. you just have to swab the baby's mouth and the fathers mouth and send it in...theres instructions on their website too.

we just did it ourselves it only cost $79 and as long as hes cooperative it takes a week and youll get results.

you can go through the courts to get it done that way its court ordered with no issues.. at least in nys you can do that..it wont be 3 mos to wait its usually however long the court is..good luck

I don't know about how it works in New York, but they might, it never hurts to ask. I'm in California, and Child Support Services (aka CSS) told me it's required for parents who aren't married and if the child receives the mother's last name (which is the situation I'm in), and they pay for it.
