Hey girls!

I am a single mom and i go to school every Saturday while they are with their dad, {i know how lucky I am, he was a loser for a husband but he is a great dad} Anyway I am doing a presentation on being a single mom for my class this Saturday, I am looking for any advice on what you would want to hear if you were going to be there. I have an A going into this project and am trying to keep it but I have a huge fear of public speaking! I have written down a few cheap, quick and easy recipies to pass out, what else should I talk about???????????????

Thanks for the help girls!

Kim

First.. good for you! I would encourage single moms to continue their educations- just like you (and me- I'll be earning my Bachelor's this month through a Saturday college program that I started the year I divorced). It is crucial that they are able to financial support their children- and an education is a great start. I echo the other posts- look for support from others (family, friends, church organizations, etc.)-- there are many people that are in similar positions. I love the idea of quick & easy recipes- if they can be made with little "helpers" even better. Good luck!

Personal time! How hard it is to find. How sometimes you have to just not do the dishes and sit on your butt and watch tv, or else your head might explode!!

I'd mention support groups, just like this one! Joining a local Mom's Group so you can interact with moms in similar situations. Maybe even make a list of resources for single moms, such as community education, local social services and child support phone numbers and addresses, etc. Also mention the grants single moms can get for education, and how some colleges (like Inver Hills) offer on-site child care, etc. Good luck!
