I am writing an article about Mothers day for a magazine and I wanted to write about how single parents can celebrate this day. I know it's a bit tricky as you don't have your partner take care about it but then again, it's about celebrating motherhood and it doesnt' have to be a dimond?

What would you suggest a single mom does to make this day special? (in particular if her kids are too young to go shopping for dimonds:-)))

Thanks!

Go celebrate being a mom to the one your a mom to! Go with you child and do something fun together. Go to a park and have a picnic. If you have a girl, go get mani pedi's. Talk with your child and let them know how much you appreciate them. Write a letter to your baby or child and tell them how you feel about being their mommy!

In the UK, Mother's Day is in March.

I normally celebrate it by having a day with my daughters. Normally at school they've done something (but saying that the last couple of years nothing's been done for Mother's Day). My girls attend the local Rainbows and Brownies - where they'll do something like a card and a present.

When my girls where younger, I would go out and buy myself a present and then wrap it up from them. Meant that a) would get something and b) something I liked, especially as my ex doesn't feature in my girls lives. Sometimes my girls will do something when at their grandparents for me as well and/or go shopping with grandparents to get me a present. (Should add that normally the same applies for my presents for my birthday, Easter and Christmas - I apply the same logic of buying the vast majority of my own presents and then wrap them and say they're from my girls. That way I know that I've actually got something I want. If my girls want to get me something, then I'll give them some guidance of what I want, with the help of grandparents, they will buy/make me something).

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

Just spend they with your children and celebrate your own mom by spending time with her if possible. Even when you're married mother's day has nothing to do with diamonds.
