Above The Trees - www.abovethetrees.ca
Is a story for children three to seven years of age...and older.
It is a story about a giraffe whose daddy gets lost in the jungle, never to return.
The baby giraffe grows up asking questions about her daddy and her mother reaffirms gently that they are a family and she will always be loved and protected.
When the giraffe has grown tall enough to see above the trees, she see's that there were always all different kinds of families and her family is perfect for her.
Beautiful illustrations and message for single parents and children.
Story by a single mom for her daughter!!!
(June 2 - website was down for a couple of days but will be back up and running soon)

Best part about Summer is more free time to dive into great reads. We regularly visit our local library, to replenish reading material. In the Summer our library hosts a reading program with rewards and fun activities. The best part is they provide great lists of age and reading level appropriate books.
My son enjoys diving into a book series during the Summer. He finished the Magic Tree House series last Summer. This Summer I could see him diving into graphic novels and comic books, he's 8.
Amazon also has great suggestions by age.
Happy reading!

When I was little, my favorite books were "Frindle" by Andrew Clements, the "Hatchet" series by Gary Paulson, "A Little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and anything by Shel Silverstein.
