Healthy Sleep Habits

Has anyone read this book and/or used any of the ideas in it? A couple of friends have suggested it and says it worked really well for their children.

We have been trying to get our newborn to learn how to put herself to sleep. I don't expect success right away or all of the time but we do think its a good idea that she starts to learn now instead of months down the road when its hard to break the habit.

Right now we've been practicing this with her during the day when she sleeps (which of course is a lot). Sometimes I'll hold her until she falls asleep and others I'll put her down just as she's drowsy.

Anyway, I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this book/method, if there are any.

Thanks

Liz

Yeh the first few days, maybe a week are the hardest. It will get better. And i agree with the not stressing. It will happen when its ment to. Its the same with most of child rearing , the more you stress the more the baby feels it and you get even more stressed! Its a vicious cycle! Continue doing what your doing though sounds like your on the right track!

That's nice to hear. It's been hard the last few days because she's been very fussy. But we're still trying anyway. Some times go better than others.

I did end up buying this book and one of the things it stresses is that right now we shouldn't stress ourselves out about it. Instead keep trying and if it works great and if not pick her up and sooth her. So that's what we've been continuing to do.
