Toddler climbing out of crib

My 18 month old has attempted to crib out of his crib, so we bought a toddler rail, before he falls out. I am worried that he will not want to lay down though. Bedtime is not a problem, he lays right down in his crib, but at naptime he likes to play in bed for a while before he falls asleep. So I'm worried he will be getting in and out of bed and not lay down. Any suggestions or ideas?
