Hi, I'd like to start up a home daycare so I can stay home with my daughter and still contribute to the household. I have put up some flyers and stuff but unfortunately no bites:( Since we are all in Southern Ontario I thought maybe some of you could help get the word out about my daycare.

I'm in Drayton so its not easy to find a lot out here but maybe someone who passes through on the way to work? Anyways, I thought it was worth a shot to try to get the word out on here too. Thanks:)

Hi Chantel,

The office is in Guelph im sure, the number will be in the blue pages i think.. they can direct you to the daycare line. When I did it they came out and interviewed me and did a home inspection. It was really good because they are really helpful, setting up meetings with other daycare providers and doing workshops and activities for the kids. It was really good too because my paycheck came from them and I didnt have to worry about parents that were stuck for money if you know what I mean. Also they were really good for support if there were any problems that came about. I did it for 5 years so i really liked it. The supervisor back then was named Susan Moyers but I doubt she is still in that office, you never know though. If I were to do daycare again thats the way I would go. Good Luck.

Quoting Vanessa:

Hi, I did exactly what you want to do when my children were young. I was living in Palmerston at the time and had a hard time finding kids to babysit. I call Social Services of wellington county ( the office is in guelph) and almost immediatley had enough kids in my care to make a good paycheck. This was a long time ago but im sure that the service is still out there. give it a try , what have you got to lose. good luck.

Hey Thanks!! I still have only got one kid so I'll try that!! I had heard that you could do it for the county but wasn't sure how to go about it. So I just call the social service office then? Then do they do home inspections and stuff or just send some kids my way?

Sure. I don't know anybody from that area but I will definitely let people know if I hear of anything. :)
