I'm a kind of stay at home mom. I work part time but mostly home with my 21 month old daughter. I just started a website selling items for 19.95 and under so I can stay home all the time with my daughter. I have tons of questions. But 1st one is. How did you ladies weaning your little ones from breastfeeding? She is usually good during the day but I'm having a hard time at night. And I think its mostly a security thing with my daughter. And I've had a hard time getting her to sleep in her own bed. Any suggestions

I'm trying to wean my daughter but she is stubborn. And I hate to see her cry and her daddy is worse then I am on that. But hopefully he will be back to work soon on the road and I can get this done. My goal is before her 2nd birthday which is less than 2 months away

I just recently totally weaned my daughter, at 14 months, in July. I was kind of under pressure from family to stop BF, but it was also interfereing with other "aspects" of my life. I looked at the Almanac, and weaned when it said to. I did sudden weaning...I DON'T reccommend this! It was awful! We were both miseable. If I had known then what I know now, I would have tried the way you are talking about. My daughter is 16 months now, and still wakes in the night. She wants to come to our bed, but always goes right back to sleep. It is getting better, and doesn't happen as often now. I think you are doing a wonderful job, and wish that I would have had more knowledge of weaning when I crossed that bridge. I BF my oldest, but had troubles, and it only lasted for 3 months or so. My daughter is 21 months also, we started off by night weaning, and at the same time moved her to her own bed (which is right next to ours, touching). This all began at about 16 months. It took a few weeks of but she finally got the hang of it. She will still wake up periodically through the night but usually goes right back to sleep with the sound of my voice. we are currently working on totally weaning. she gets it 3 times a day when she wakes, at nap and right before bed. We have been doing this for just a few days and she is slowly getting the hang of it. Morning milk is going to be the next one to cut out for us, I want to sleep in and I think that is the only way she will let me. good luck!
