Hi I am hoping someone else has either gone through this or is now. I am not sure if i should take her to the doctor or not as well. It all started Friday, She woke up and was different, she wanted to sleep more did not want to eat her big girl food. She only was able to get down 1/2 baby food jar of fruit. Then wanting the breast started. She has only been eating from me in the morning and right before bed, but that changed and all weekend she wanted breast milk. I have tried giving her solids and baby food jars and she would only eat 1/2 a jar. She also wanted to sleep alot more then normal. Now this morning she woke up and wanted a quick bite to eat from me and then wanted to play, she is smiling and laughing and all that. I was able to get some rice cereal and 1/2 jar of fruit into her but that was it. Any thoughts on if she just being needed or something? She is in the 10-15% in weight and height so that is why i am a little worried but for how she is being today i just am not sure.
thanks for any thoughts on it

I nursed my daughter until she was amost 3yrs old....she ate very well but wouldnt take her milk in any other form.I called the la leche league for support and they tried giving me pointers needless to say none of it helped....My mom had to to get her off it was taking a toll on my back.I think all kids are different it was our time together and created such a bond....As long as she's happy and u dont see it affected her growth continue with what ur doing...If u find it is not helping and she won't eat talk to her dr...

My son is bottle fed always was, but he is going through this phase of wanting 50 sippy cups full of milk and no food even though he used to love food. It's driving me nuts, you're definitely not alone.

When in doubt check it out! If you are concerned give your pedi a ring. No one knows your baby better than you. It's probably nothing to worry about but your pedi should be able to give advice over the phone for little things and tell your whether its worth a visit or not to the office. Not all babies are the same so even though I have 3 kids and been through a lot with them, you know a lot more than me and have an intuition only you can have about your baby. Good luck and peace

yeah, if her mood is good i really wouldn't worry. it could be a growth spurt, it could be her body fighting off germs, it could just be a little phase.
and good for you for continuing to nurse! i love seeing mama's willing to go past the first birthday!

well my husband does have the flu but he has been locked either in the bedroom or the office as to not get the girls sick. I thought she was sick at first but no sign of a fever at all. Just wants to sleep and breastfeed. Is it possible that teething can do this to a child? With all her other teeth she still wanted food to munch on so im lost this time lol.
As for table foods she has been eating them since she was about 10months or so, we call them Big girl food lol. She has always wanted to be like her older sister but for some reason the past few days she rather be with me. Dont get me wrong i love that my baby wants me again since i can no longer have kids but i was not sure if it is something to worry about or not. Since she seems fine and does not have a fever I got lost i guess.

out of all the home made baby foods ive made for my kids I never thought of avacodos, that is a great idea.
I will do that with the one i am pregnant with. gosh why didnt I think of that.

is it possible that she just doesn't want purees, anymore? have you tried offering finger foods and table foods? around my sons first birthday, he started refusing purees, and only wanted to eat from my plate.

it is totally normal for them to go through phases when they only want to nurse. as long as you are following her lead, and nursing on demand i think she will be fine especially because you said that she seems happy when she's awake. is it possible that she is coming down with an illness?

her weight should not be an issue as long as her weight gain has been steady and consistent over this past year. breastmilk is the best thing for her...it is rich in healthy fats (it has more fat in it than whole cows milk). your milk changes as she moves from baby to toddler, and has even more fat and calories in it because babe is so active.

with her eating so little solid food, i would honeslty skip the rice cereal. rice cereal has very little nutrition...its all simple carbohydrate which just gets stored as sugar in the body. personally, i would offer avocado. avocados are packed with nutrition and healthy fat...and delicious.

This is normal. Dont feel bad. if you really want to wean her then stay on top of it and she will catch on. But if it bothers you that much you should probably talk to her dr. I would mix cereal with formula to help with the weight gain and to fill my daughters up. Sleeping more is okay. 1yr olds go through so many changes. Stay with the jar foods adn give her breast milk, just offer the food first. Some babies are pickier than others. ;)
