Hi Corina,

1st Birthdays are so exciting! I don't know if you've checked out http://www.1stwishes.com
This is where I get my children's birthday supplies from. As far as goody bags and favors. You can always check Oriental Trading, Party City, or Target's $1 section. I think coloring books are a great idea.

Hope this helps a bit.

I found some great coloring books at the Dollar Tree for favors. They probably have some with some sort of insect theme. Or things like play-do, bubbles and stickers are always a hit with kids. Last year I found water guns at the Dollar Tree for favors and the kids went wild for those.

Don't go too over the top, because your daughter will get overwhelmed. The Dollar Tree (my favorite store, can you tell?) has theme balloons and chances are they have one with a lady bug. Get one of those and maybe a few more red and black balloons for decoration. Do plain red and black plastic table clothes and plates and utensils. Maybe buy one pack of ladybug plates just to stick with the theme, but buying plain is cheaper. Cupcakes instead of a big cake and individual ice cream cups make for easy serving. Canned drinks and juice boxes are easier than two liters and dealing with ice and cups. The less YOU have to do, the more you and your baby will enjoy the party!

Since it's lady bugs, I would give the little boys other types of insect favors. Like caterpillars or something like that. They have big, gooey ones that would be safe for all ages. It will loosely keep to your theme, but give them something that interests them too.
