My first child had shoulder dystocia. I'm now 27 weeks pregnant and my obgyn is trying to get me to get a c-section just in case this 2nd baby would get stuck. I'm not sure if I want a c-section or not. Any moms have this problem but still have their 2nd baby natural? Did the 2nd also get stuck? I need some help here..

My first was 9lb 13oz (5 days late) and had shoulder dystocia, I was induced at 39 wks with my second, everything went brilliantly and he weighed 8lb 6oz, no shoulder dystocia and im now 26 wks with my third and hope to be induced between 37-39 wks. Im not diabetic and just produce big babies. I didn't want a c-section but I wanted to have the safest possible option, not to go over 40 wks was the best plan for my. Best of luck!

Shoulder dystocia DOES NOT mean you have to have a c-section. There is a position you can push in that opens your pelvis that almost always works to get the baby out. What you need to do is to push on your hands and knees. Its as simple as that. Usually the shoulder will pop out, and the doctor can grab underneath the armpit and help pull the other shoulder out. This has been a common fix for shoulder distocia in other countries, but for some reason most doctors dont know about this position. For more information, I would highly recommend reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin. This manuever is actually called the Gaskin Manuever here in the states because she is the first midwife in the states to really make use of it. The whole first half of her book is birth stories from different women, and many of them had natural births with shoulder dystocia. Message me if you want any more info! Good luck!
