Please don't give a 2 month old anything but milk or a teaspoon of cooled, boiled water. And ONLY a teaspoon. Their insides are not developed enough to handle anything other than that.
Are you breast feeding or formula feeding? If you are breast feeding then its normal for a baby to go anywhere between 4 times a day (as long as it isn't liquid) and once every 10 days.
If they are formula fed, double and triple check you are mixing the right amount into the water. If you mix too much powder then it can cause hard poo and constipation.
My little one strains a lot. Especially when she was 2 months old. She would strain every day. Some babies do it because it's simply a new sensation. Some do it to counter pain from gas. It's a normal thing, don't panic.
You should take them to the doctor ASAP if they cry while straining. This can be a sign that they are in pain and trying to push through a hard poo or something more serious.
If they don't cry, then don't worry. The hard poo they passed, was it solid? Or just a little stiffer than normal?
If i were you, if you are worried, take them to the doctor. No doctor on the fact of this planet that is worth their salt would EVER complain about a mother being worried for their child. If they do get annoyed, then you need a new doctor. NEVER take a chance :) If you think they need to see a Dr, then take them. Simple. Good luck mama!!

After introducing solids my 4m old son had similar issues with severe constipation and gassiness. We were being advised with Babies magic tea. Mix one oz tea in 8oz formula and feed twice to your LO.

You should probably call your son's pediatrician and let them know what's going on. You could also try laying baby flat on his back and doing gentle bicycle rotations with his legs which may stimulate gass/bowels to move. Keep baby well hydrated with breastmilk/formula ONLY to prevent dehydrations. My pediatrician advised against giving any juice to baby until at least 6 months old as their bellies are still immature and cannot appropriately digest it before then (and can actually cause baby's tummy to feel worse). Good luck with your little one!
