This sounds kind of strange, my mom used it on me and I did the same for my kids. Try using a scallion onion (cut off the root and any loose spots that may come off) and let the baby gnaw on it. It completely numbs the gums and it's safe and natural. U can also use a frozen wash-cloth, those work great too...

There are teething tablets that desolve in the mouth with in a second I used this on all my boys (3 of them) and they worked like a charm!

Wet a wash cloth and put it in the freezer for about 45 seconds. Let him chew on it until it is no longer cool. Then freeze again. The roughness of the cloth will help break the gum gently and the cold will sooth the pain.

YEP I do..several that worked when my daughter was a tbaby

1) Giant cold ( right from fridge is fine) CARROTS peeled and cut the top off, the are great for gnawing and they dont break off easily

2) Take a small wash colth fold in half with a rubber band so it looks like you have rabbit ears, the bottom half makes a loop, take only the rabbit eears part and put in water 9 poland spring not from tap ) not cold either but NOT WARM OR HOT!!! and place in fride for a few minutes give baby the bottom part to hold and let em gnaw away for really bad pain flip it use the loop and place an ice cube inside and tighten with rubberband

3) frozen bagels, large size take out of freezer wait a minute just so any ice on it disappears make sure its still hard and give to baby, watch em of course but it helps alot

4) MY FAVORITE REMEDY FOR ANYTHING!...Chamomile tea all natural 100% pure chamomile tea sold at any supermarket just make sure its pure cham no sleepytime stuff, it takes the edge off the pain, seep tea bag in 2oz of boiling water for 7 minutes then add 4 more oz of purified or sprin water and put in sippy cup, it takes the edge off the pain, it doesnt make your baby oh so sleepy but it will relax the child and take the edge off, also great for fevers, and bedtime issues at 9mths no more then 4 cups in a 18 hr period.

You will thank me one day for the last oe..great for fevers, teeth aches, ear aches and upset tummy!!! My daughter is four and when she doesnt feel well she asks for her magic tea!!

good luck and i will pass

I don't like to use any chemical agents if possible. Those teething tablets say that they are homeopathic, but they contain Belladonna, a sedative and an herb that can be very taxing on the kidney's. I have one of those net feeder bags that you can get at the baby store. I fill them with frozen fruits and veggies. My daughter loves it. Not only does it take her pain away, but it occupies her and provides nutrition.

When my son was teething he never had any problems, it wasn't until his molars started coming in. Then it was crazy. Orajel didn't work at all for us. But I found these homeopathic teething tablets and they were a blessing. The brand name is Hyland, their 100% natural and dissolve quickly. I put them in a teaspoon of water then down the hatch!!! Really made a difference for us.

i was told by other moms that there is 100% natural teething remedies at the natural food/health store, if you have one around i would go in there and see what they would have, other than that, they have suthers that have a mesh net at the end instead of the silicone, i would try that with a frozen grape. or apple piece, or something yummy that is cold. that helped my little one

Get Ground Cloves, moisten your finger and then dip into the ground cloves and then rub on his gums.... Its natural and it won't hurt him in anyway.... I did it to my son who, baby orajel didn't touch his mouth nor the natural baby teething tablets you can buy..

My daughter started cutting teeth at 5 months and was miserable every time she started teething. The best thing that worked for her was frozen bananas in one of those mesh food servers for babies (sold at Target or Walmart) so they don't choke on the pieces and she just sucked on that, got the nutrients from the bananas and the cold from it being frozen numbed her gums. Granted this could get messy, but a messy baby is a happy one!

Hyland's Teething Tablets. They are homeopathic and they work wonders. My daughter just started teething and a lady suggested and we were desperate so we bought some and it worked. They sell it at Wal-mart. In the vitamans section.

Well, I heard that a cool washcloth is good, and you could kind of scrub (gently) his gum with it. The justification is that the pain is partly about plaque on the gums. It worked for my son...

For quick relief I use Bluberry Eggo Waffles (obviously frozen). At that age he is getting used to solids and the indents get in the nooks of his little mouth.

Bonnie

When my son was teething, now 3yrs, I found great comfort in a home made "ice block". I got some cheese cloth and cut it into small squares. I then cut up watery fruit like watermelon, rock melon, pineapple etc, wrapped then froze. It was soothing for his gums but I also liked it as it was summer so i knew he was staying hydrated and cool.

Best of luck

You need to buy one of those things that you put solid food in with a net like end on it, just put an ice cube in it instead. I think munchkin makes it.

I use Hyland's Teething Tablets for my 4-month-old daughter. They are homeopathic and won't cause the same reactions as OraJel and Anbesol (not recommended to use Anbesol if he's allergic to OraJel--they use a similar anelgesic). She can't use OraJel because she chokes on her milk--can't feel it in her throat to swallow.

The Teething Tablets are available at Wal-Mart in the baby aisle, next to the bottles and pacifiers.

Cold washcloths worked well for my other kids, as did Tylenol.
