we have decided to wait until after christmas (and get everyting at the sales!) because we both want to get special things for each other, but we are happy to wait. we have small things that our son will give us, so he can do that.

We both agreed not to give each other gifts since money is tight and we have four kids and relatives to give to. But we managed to sneak one inexpensive gift in. I was surprised with a charm bracelet, with little charms for each child, with their names engraved on them. I found a used drum kit priced very low, and bought it for my husband. Both of us were very surprised and pleased. We usually put the kids needs before ours and rarely do or go anywhere for ourselves.

When we were shopping for our little one we both picked out something really small. Me, slippers and he wanted some body spray or something. I got a diamond ring last year & we just bought a house so money is super low so everything was focused on our son. It's all about the kids on Xmas.

well my sons birthday is the 17th of Dec and since my husband is now working here instead of traveling with work the money is tight so we opted to have the birthday party and let the grandparents and aunts and uncles worry about Christmas .It worked out well because Devin got a lot of things. My husband and i never do Christmas for each other we worry about the birthdays and let the rest go.

We usually buy each other pj's to wear Christmas morning and a small gift and that is it. We save on money this way and when we really want something we buy it so it's kind of silly to buy each other gifts. In my opinion. When times aren't so hard maybe we will buy gifts again for each other but for now that's it.

My hubby and I have decided that instead of buying each other gifts for Christmas, anniversaries, birthdays etc, we will use that money and buy something we need around the house. New dishwasher, windows, reno's, new deck, stuff like that. Last year was our Major gift to us and our children and we bought a house. this year we have gone smaller lol This Christmas we have bought new living room furniture!!! It arrived Saturday!!! I have to admit, I like this arrangement a lot better then individual gifts.

No, we have had to make some sacrifices so that I can stay at home. We choose to spend what money we do have on the kids and our family. The only thing that I want for Christmas is to see our children's sweet faces Christmas morning!
My DH never celebrated christmas before he met me so I shop for everyone by myself. I even do my own present shopping then label it with DH or kids names. The kids haven't questioned it yet and I hope they never do though we will tell the truth if they do. As for DH I do get him something every year and try for something he can use in his shop.

Yes we do. It's usually stuff that's useful but not really 'needed'. Stuff we could really use, but wouldn't buy for ourselves. This year--He's getting mostly clothes because his work shirts are getting ratty and he won't buy more for himself until they completely fall apart and some books about his new hobby. I'm getting some pattern and recipe books so I don't have to keep renewing them at the library and dishes because most of the ones we got for our wedding have broken.
I also start my Christmas shopping on Dec 26 and watch for sales all year. That way we can have a lot more stuff under the tree for a lt less money.

We usually do exchange gifts. This year I got him a camera bag he's been wanting and he got me an Android phone so we can video chat together :) What I'm looking forward to the most this year is seeing the baby (21 mos.) open his gifts and him being interesting in more than just the wrapping paper!

We always exchange gifts. I told him I didn't want anything, except photo albums this year. But knowing him, he won't get me those, but he'll get me a few other things. As everybody knows, money is tight everywhere. I'm used to splurging on him for Christmas, but this year our son is 13 months, so obviously the money went to him. But for my hubby, I bought him the HESS truck (tradition) and 2 pairs of holiday boxers from Aero (also tradition, so this will be his sixth Christmas getting them.) Then I got him a pair of jeans (necessary), a few Steelers items, and a wallet. I would have loved to get him a video game, but too expensive. A couple years ago I bought him the XBOX 360 and skydiving tickets. For his stocking, I just did candy and gloves.
He usually would get me a nice hoodie from Aero, the one year he bought me an awesome white coat. Occasionally jewelry, but I never expect or even think that is something I will get.

I pick stuff up for my boyfriend from yard sales, ebay, etc... whatever I can find. I'm on SSI, so money is always pretty tight. (SSI in Fl is less than $700 a month) The good part is he has no idea, because I've got a couple of things stashed at my cousin's house across the street! It's almost as much fun to surprise him as it is my son.

Nope, we talked about it and said why not just get the gifts for our daughter and not worry about each other. The way I look at it is, I have my husband and he gave me my beautiful daughter what more do I need. Oh and were expecting our second child which also turns out to be a girl that were going to name Kayden Jade.

Normally my husband and I don't buy gifts for each other. We each take out daughter who is almost 5 shopping for the other parent and let her buy a gift for us. That way she is involved and learns the joy and fun of giving not just receiving.

We normally do but it has been a tough year financially. He just came home from a week long trip to Florida for his fathers funeral. With all that is going on, we are just happy to have each other this year. Though when tax returns come in, we may get ourselves something nice...

We are not exchanging gifts this year.... again!!! I don't think we've exchanged gifts since our son has been born (who is now 3). But I usually buy him a few small things for his stocking anyway.... or I mean, Santa usually leaves a few things in his stocking!

For the last 4 of our nine years we have exchanged ornaments. We figured we could make one large purchase after Christmas together with our Christmas money. That way we can get something we want/need. This year it happened before Christmas. Our washing machine died and we had to go buy one.

We'll exchange a small gift, but nothing major. I will get him 1 gift from our daughter though. We got our daughter 3 presents and now have 1 more to get and stocking stuff...we decided when she was born to keep it low key because we want her to understand the true meaning behind Christmas. Also, I have 13 nieces and nephews total plus 3 kids of close friends to buy for so we focus on getting them small gifts. My family gets pictures of our daughter every year for Christmas and I make a treat (this year it's truffles). I still haven't even bought my spouse a gift yet to be honest lol...going Thursday. He's so difficult to buy for.

Yup! I just got my hubby a big canvas, paints, brushes, palette and more as he has been thinking of painting again. Its not expensive and its something that he is thrilled about as he wants to take up his hobby again. Time off from work to do something you love! What more could a gift be! I got this really cool pair of sunglasses from Zara and am waiting to show them off after my new haircut! sounds cheesy but its holiday mood, ladies! Am also expecting a "me day" right after the holidays. Wish all of you extraordinary mothers tons of small joys and great happiness!!

I bought him a movie so we can have movie night and a video game because he enjoys them and since we had our son he cant buy them. He bought me perfume and under garments we went out black friday and he let me pick everything=)

my husband has insisted that I not get him anything for Christmas this year so that he has extra for a gift to me since my birthday is so close to Christmas and he hasn't gotten me anything since we were married. I laugh and asked if I could at least get him a pack of socks so he had something- he just laughed at me. for one year I guess it is ok

We always exchange small gifts to each other and focus on others for the holidays. But because we were truly blessed this year so we did it BIG! We got the "dream" refrigerator for us, and then we took my nieces and nephew to Disney World for Christmas AND my husband went all out and got me diamond earrings...Which I was so excited about because I don't own any really nice jewelry with the exception of my wedding ring. I decided to get him some nice UGG Slippers. Hope he likes them!

My hubbie and I usually buy each other a few things. I got him a tool that he's been talking about all year and a few other things. I believe he has gotten me a few things as well since he's been tip toeing around the house and just today caught him coming out of the attic with wrapping tape and a bag of bows in his hands. Haha! I would love to peek but I wouldn't want to ruin his suprise. :-)

We bought a new tv that is our gift to e/o. Given my son's bday is a week before Christmas (my baby turned 13 yesterday) we gave him our old one for his room. Its a NICE tv (the old one) so its not like a sucky gift, lol. We're like everyone else, funds are tight so we didn't do the dual gifts for e/o, just the one.

haha, well, we have a joint account, and he earns all the money, so...well, we need a new alarm clock radio and it's on his side of the bed, so he's getting one of those for christmas.
I saw a 6 in 1 glass platter/cake plate/punch bowl thing that I could really use so he's getting me that, I got him a clip to wind his mp3 player cord around, and picked up a tie clip on special he'll like.
We're going on a week holiday from 23rd to 31st Dec (to visit family interstate) so will be eating out alot and doing nice things along the way, so that will be enough I think.
Unless he has a surprise for me, but I'd rather not think about it incase he doesn't. Oh, and he would really like to see Tron when it comes out, so I'll hang about the shops with Charlotte while he goes and sees that by himself.
Oh, and I bought my self a good hair straightener a couple of weeks ago, and some new makeup, I figure, that's a good early christmas present, and told him that, and not to worry too much about anything else.

Ususlly my husband and I go all out! For most of the year I never buy anything for myself unless I really need it (i.e. like pants or socks) and my kids don't really get so much throughout the year unless they are gifts or from goodwill and craigslist so it's really nice to splurge.
