My son will be 4 tomorrow and wants me to take him to the petstore. Any suggestions on the best pet for him? Definitely not a cat or a dog right now but maybe a hamster or newts???

@tamara..yeah ive seen those in the mall painted all crazy colors. I totally forgot about that as an option. Thanks for reminding me!

Hermit Crabs. They have a really long life span. And will help teach how to care for a pet. They need to be feed and watered and their tank cleaned. But you can also hold them unlike fish. And they don't jump out of your hand and run away like hamsters. They move really slow. You can also pick one with really cool painted shells.
