My daughter turned 2 years old yesterday. Since it was a Wednesday, we decided to have her party with friends & family this weekend. We ended up having to change it to next weekend because some of my family wanted to fly in for her party but couldn't make it this weekend.
I'm in serious need of some ideas for what to do at her party. I'm only trying to think of ideas for the other kids that will be there. It's going to be at a park. There will be two 2 year old girls, a 3 year old, 4 year old & 7 year old boy there. I thought about renting a bounce house but can't afford it. Then I thought about getting a pinata but don't want to because the 4year old boy that will be there doesn't pay attention & will probably hurt someone. What else can I do? I was thinking of getting things like frisbees, a soft ball & bat...things like that. Any other ideas? Or should I not even worry about getting anything & just let the kids run around?

When my son was younger, we didn't do too much for activities since it was more about family being together on his birthday. He was just happy with the cake and presents. This year for his fifth he had his kidergarten buddies over. It was a shorter one, only 1 1/2 hrs. They were completely fine playing with balloons, even some of the little two year old siblings. But that would be a challenge in a park. I would be worried about the pinata reminents being scattered throughout the park or blowing away. One thing I read about for older kids was to give them bubbles and have them aim them at a target. ex " everyone try to get the branches, or swing or sun." Also goodie bags maybe a good idea with the 3, 4 and 7 yearolds. I wouldn't want to be too busy if I had family flying in though. And if you're at a park, I'm sure the kids will find something to do :)

Recently I saw a pinata that was made out of a brown paper bag. Much easier for little kids to break open.

I like the cupcake decorating idea below. Set up a little station and let them decorate cupcakes for everyone.

I wouldn't set up anything to fancy or structured because if you're at a park, they're pretty much just gonna want to run around.

We did a Dora themed one for my daughter when she turned 2...If you have nice weather, I would totally do a park..maybe let the kids decorate their own cupcakes, then a couple easy games...a game of socceer. That age is fun, she'll be happy doing anything!

Let them decorate sugar cookies. I know my son really enjoyed a toy bowling set at that age so maybe get that and have prizes for all of them when they are done?
