Any suggestions on how I can wean my son of falling asleep with sippy cup full of milk?

Oh goodness..... One thing that would be concerning with him falling asleep with milk is that milk has sugar in it and when he sleeps the sugar settles in the mouth of the sippy or bottle and then falls onto and sits on his teeth, cavities!!!
The way I did it with my youngest daughter was to just simply say no, it's not good for you.... water is ok but no more milk. And they do understand this; Walk with him to the trash can, have him throw away the sippy with milk in it, and then wave buy buy to it. Then when it comes time to go to bed, you can remind him that we waved bye bye to it and we don't use it anymore...... He might protest and have a few grumpy nights, but he will get it and get used to not having it. If he is too young for that concept, then just offer him a sippy with water instead and not give in to the milk thing even when he cries, again, it will take some time. If he takes the sippy with water no problem, then you know that it's just a comfort thing to him with having the sippy and not that he wanted milk. Hope this helps....
