My son just turned one on May 2nd, and all of a sudden, he's not my sweet, silly little boy! Nothing makes him happy; he doesn't like any of his toys, he doesn't like any of his favorite foods, he's not happy alone or with other people. What's going on?! Why do I suddenly have a cranky one year old?

Is he getting enough sleep? My 1 year old sleeps 10 hours at night and then 3-4 hours during the day. She is a grump if she doesn't get her sleep. Teething would be my other guess as to why you suddenly have a cranky one year old.

Your cranky one year old may be teething or catching a cold. Each child has a level of pain tolerance and for some it hits hard when they are teething. Try Tylenol at the next sign and see if it touches it.

Teeth? Growth Spurt? Flu? Diaper rash?

My kids don't eat when a tooth is working its way through. See if chewing on a cold or frozen wash cloth settles him. There could be so many things causing a cranky 1 year old, but if this is out of the ordinary, it's most likely a stage & you'll have your sweet baby back soon :)

Are you a stay at home mom? If not find out if a change in caregiver home is bothering him.Take your cranky one year old to the doctor to rule out any illness .If all is OK try a new play mate by inviting another mom over with a baby close in age to provide companionship. Try soothing music at bed time and even meal times.
