diaper rash or something else?

My son has had a red bottom that has gotten worse as the day has gone on. I have tried all of the creams and pastes even corn starch which usually works. However, I just got him out of the tub and noticed that on the red rash are spots of white small rashes almost looking like small blisters. Can anyone help with what this might be and how to treat it?

Like most of mom's here have already said, it sounds like an allergic reaction. Having said that, I would take him to the doctor bc of the blisters, an infection can occur when those sores open up and weep. Especially because of the area the blisters are in and if he is in diapers. Since it might be an allergic reaction, you might have to be careful of what you put on it. Better safe than sorry right?

My daughter got a really horrible rash when I started her on baby food. It seemed to only be from certain foods, ex. carrots, so I stopped serving her those foods and my dr. gave me some creams for her bum. One was an anti-fungal and one was a corticosteroid cream. They did their job but until her system was able to handle all the new foods, it never really went away. So I guess time is the best medicine and keeping the diaper area really clean. Good luck!

Maybe a food allergy?? Hard to say. My child has food allergies. Try backing off new foods for 3 or so days. It takes the proteins about three days or so to get out of their systems. Once you get the rash cleared up watch what you feed him. Juice can be the culprit too. Acidic foods can cause redness too.

My daughters sometimes get really bad rashes down there from certain (mild) food allergies. There are no other "allergy symptoms", just started realizing that when they eat certain foods, they developed a rash that NO creams and pastes heal. Only thing that helped was stopping the food for a couple days and it would go away on it's own. Just another idea.

My middle one has terrible skin rashes. I have found a bath with baking soda helps ALOT. This is a trick my great grandmother shared with me and she is right! Also, there is only one diaper cream that works for us and that is Triple Paste. The only place I have been able to find it around here is Target. It is also rather expensive but last a long time, and is worth its weight in gold. As for yeast, yes it could be, and the baking soda will give him some relief till the meds can do their job. Good luck and let us know!
