My son had eczema when he was a baby but eventually grew out of it. During the 3 year phase that he had it, we tried several different remedies and the thing that worked was hydrocortizone cream for 1-2 days to stop the splitting and bleeding, and then switch to Tri-Cream (you can purchase it from Nordstrom, you'll have to ask for it, it's not on display). Although the hydrocortizone cream did wonders to magically heal his splits and bleeding, I wasn't comfortable using it for long-term due to the steroids thinning his skin, so only used it when there's a bad flare-up that the Tri-cream couldn't keep under wraps. We tried Elidel, and it made it worse--after an hour of application it would cause the site to blister and pus and split. But that could be his sensitivity to whatever was in Elidel.

Eventually the eczema receded to just his legs and earlobes..then just earlobes..and then gone. I still lather him with lotion in winter or when weather is severly dry to prevent any flare-ups. Good luck!

My new daughter has eczema. Vaseline and sleeping in a room with a humidifier has plumped up and smoothed out her very dry face. Also, pat your child dry in affected areas; don't rub.

I have the best stuff. If is called Renew and they have a bath oil...they are all natural products so it is super safe and dermatologist test.

My daughter and I both have eczema and this has helped us so much. I even rub the bath oil on like a soap and my skin feels so mosturized with out all the greasy oily feeling.

I buy it online too so I get an extra discount. Sometimes I even get it for free!!

My daughter had eczema patches pretty much all over her body (legs, arms, back), I used some lotion for few days but it didn't work, so I took her to the doctor, and she gave her a cream called: Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide . She told me to apply it on her skin twice a day for a week. I did for 4 days because It worked really good.

I use a combinatione of EUCERIN cream mixed with HYDROCORTIZONE cream and apply it to the areas of his body that need it. (up to 2 times daily) my ped. recommended this for me and it helps. If the eucerin doesnt help try AQUAPHOR (its made by eucerin but is an ointment not a cream and really helps, too) It will only get worse in the winter. Also, DONT OVER BATHE him. If you are bathing daily, it will only make it worse. I only bathe my son every 3 days during an outbreak. Try to keep his skin as hydrated as possible. Good luck and as they get older, it does get better. The best thing to do is once you get this outbreak under control, to keep a really close eye on his skin to try to prevent another one from coming back. Good luck I know its hard to see your baby soo uncomfortable. I feel for you.

My daughter has Eczema too. I tried EVERYTHING! What works for her is the Aveno baby products they work great! And i also put baby oil on her after bath time to keep her skin moisterized. I use the lotion Eucerin on her and it works great! i only bathe her 3 times a week beacuse water dries her skin out and she breaks out. i hope u find something that works! It may take a while to find something that works for your babies skin. Good Luck!!

My daughter is 5 and has severe eczema we had a method that was working (QV bathoil for bathing, pat dry then use QV intensive moisturiser within 3 minutes) recently we had severe flare up and trying new routine. We have started using Billygoat soap from healthfood shop then QV intensive moisturiser. I kinda outgrew my eczema until recently when flared on my hand while pregnant with most recent son and still currently have it, he's now 12 weeks. The weather appears to be triggering the current eczema breakouts in Qld Australia.

My daughter has ezcema & tried every lotion. She has a RX but A&D ointment works great! I rub her down from head to toe after bath (still a little wet) & she is happy. Aveeno Oatmeal baths are nice too.

The hydrocortizone cream is wonderful. You can get .5% over the counter, or they sometimes have it on the shelf. It's less harsh on little ones skin than the 1% you normally find. It was reccomended by my doctor and a specialized dermatologist.

My daughter also suffers from eczema. DRs are actually contributing it to an allergy. For my daughter its strawberries or citrus and BOOM almost the next day she has new patches. So try to find out what is causing it. What foods does your lil one eat the most. Hold off feeding it to them. Then one at a time introduce it back to the diet. Wait and see. If eczema pops up dont feed. Steroid creams the Drs gives you I would use for extreme cases. However, through trial and error I found that Badger Balm (all natural) used for diaper rash works well. You can find that online. Then I have found that CVS knock off to the Eucerin works better than Eucerin. I buy the large tub of it. It lasts for months. It cost around $9. It goes on easier then Eucerin too.

This is what worked for my Grand daughter. Breck makes it, it is in a tube, shampoo and body wash. I got it at Dollar Tree, It worked great! She had so many creams from the dermatologist that did not work.

I recommend cetaphil to bathe in and vit E oil (you can use the oil straight from a vit E gel tab and they are inexpensive.) afterwards. Worked wonders for my daughter when she was a baby. Good Luck!!

My 2 year old was born with eczema as well. We use a prescription cream by Fougera- called Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP 0.5 %...thats what the tube actually says. Also we use Johnsons Oatmeal baby wash as well as Curel Itch Defense lotion. The lotion is approved by the National Eczema Assosiation also. Just make sure you apply the lotion and cream 2-3 times a day and especially right before bed. I found out that my son was itching in his sleep and caused scabs on his arms and legs. If you dont have the oatmeal baby wash you can fill a tube sock with regular oatmeal and hold it undter the running water of the tub to get the milky bath without the actual oats in the water.

I know this might sound crazy, but you can try baby powder and vasoline, mix toghether, it makes like a paste, and try it on his legs or feet first. Put a pair of socks on his feet and it may work. You are not going to have any crazy irritations happen by trying this. It works great for our kids and myself. You should also try to use the same socks if you try it on his feet or legs, otherwise you will go through alot of socks. It is messy, but its worth a try. You can also try it without the socks, they just hold the moisture in a little better. If that does not help, and it wont be over night then you can check out a website called grandmas home remedies. It has helped our family alot.

A couple things that have worked for the Eczematics in our family are glycerin based lotions, and sometimes, Mary Kay's "Night emoliment cream" (or however that's spelled. It's basically a deep moisturizer. That helped with my sister. I have eczema, and when I remember to put my lotion on, it really helps.

My eldest had a severe case of eczema when he was a baby. His pediatrician suggested we try hydrocortisone cream to stop the itching and then covering the cream with Aquaphor to seal the cream. Apply cream and ointment 3-4 times daily. This remedy does work but not in his severe case where his skin started to crack. The pediatrican then prescribed Elidel and it was cured in about 2 days or so. They also suggested not to use soap because it has a tendancy to dry up the skin even more and was told to use Cetaphil products...mainly the waterless cleanser. If you have Kaiser, the pharmacy sells it for cheap. Hope it gets better.
