My daughter snacks all day long!! The doctor told me this is actually good for kids because it keeps their metabolism high!! My daughter is 2 this december and only weighs 23lbs!! but she is almost 3 feet tall!! I have the philosophy that kids will eat if they are hungry!1 i over things to her and if she wants it then fin if not oh well!!

When children don't eat certain things, put it on their plate anyway. This is just to expose them to that particular food even if they don't eat them. It takes a long while for a child to warm up to things and for some never. Assure her that you love her and that you will never give her anything bad. Sometimes I eliminate snacks and have early dinner. That way they are hungry and would be more receptive to trying new things. Watch your portions. Children are often overwhelmed when theres too much going on in their plates. Start with just one bite. Even a tiny bite. Tell them that they can spit it out if they don't like it. Sometimes is just a matter of getting it in their mouth and once its there, it doesn't seem to taste that bad to them.

my son doesn't eat at all, i saw my health visitor who said a lot of children around this age go through a phase of not eating as they are having a break in quick growth and don't need as much, i was still worried but she also said if a child doesnt eat its probably not hungry.

I'm with Kelly Bennett. She'll try things at her own pace. I have a kid who'll only eat certain things too. It could be a sensory integration problem though, so you might want to talk to your ped about it.

My daughter is just about 3 and the only things she eats is mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, pizza and grilled cheese..she is the same way..once she realize there is something else she will spit it out..I think in time they will open up to new foods..I'm just happy she eats.

I may seem like a total quack. But on an episode of 'The Doctors' they showed a family how to deal with their kid who wouldn't eat. They do it mostly for attention, so they suggested using reverse psychology. Ignore them, don't put any food on their plate until they finally ask for it. Kids won't starve themselves, when they are hungry enough they will eat whatever you give them.

I have had the same problem with my son who is now 6. When he was youger it was awful. Now that he is a little older we have a rule: you have to eat your age. So if I have chicken, rice and a veggie on his plate, we has to eat 6 bites of each because he is 6 years old. The same for my daughter who is 9 and a picky eater. With my 6 year old, when he is done I will make him something else so he will be getting enough food in him, but now my 9 year old eats whatever we have. It makes life so much better! But, I have to make myself stay calm about it because my 6 yr old will take about an hour to eat and always will say he has to go to the bathroom during his dinner. I just let him go because the rule is he has to eat his age and he know that no matter how long it takes he can't get out of it. If that doesn't work, try Pediasure drinks. He loves the vanilla and it is extra nutrition while you struggle. Hope that helps!

How old is your Daughter? Have u tried cutting it into really small pieces and disguising it with different sauces. My Daughter wont eat meat that takes any longer than a few seconds to chew and most meats she will only eat with sauce.
