My 18 month old son has horrible eczema. I was wondering if any of you have heard of any good home remedies. I have tried vitamin E cream and it helps the dryness a little bit but nothing is going away. I have been using hydrocortizone cream the past two days or so and it seems to be helping some, but not enough. Any advice on what i could do? What about food? Are there certain things he's not supposed to be eating?

What type of products are you using in your home? Many store bought products are the ones that are causing eczema and allergies. Check to see if the hair/body wash you're using contains an igredient called Qauternium 15/Q-15. That could be what's causing the eczema. I highly suggest using better safer products I now use harsh/harmful chemical free products in my home.

My daughter hasn't had this problem, but if she did I be looking for the cause instead of just trying to get rid of the symptoms. I believe eczema is often an allergic reaction to a food, or chemical (in bath soaps, or laundry soaps etc). I'd see a naturopath and try to find the cause.
Just my two cents : )

My god daughter has the same problem and nothing worked except this. She was bathed water and oatmeal, it worked so well, she has barely a problem anymore. Fantastic results. Use a washer to gently gently wash the skin. The water should go a milky colour and you can rub the oats (gently) over the skin. It took about a week to totally clear up but she swears by it now.

My little one has eczema and it is a bummer. I only use Aveeno soap and lotion on her, Eucerin cream and I give her a bath with oatmeal with she has a bad flare up. WIth the oatmeal I pour it in a stainer and sit that in the tub for about 10-15 min before her bath. It is less messy that way and easier just to pick the strainer up out of the tub. Warm water, since hot dries skin out and I found a cream that has Winnie the Poo on the lable it seems to help but really greasy. Has your Dr. given you anything? At one point we had to get a prescription it got so bad.

I just found a new lotion from Aveeno the other day in Target. It is called Eczema threapy. I have been using it on my daughter for two days now and it actually seems to be working. This is the first thing I've found that has actually produced noticable results. The lotion does not say baby on it but it was in the baby isle. There is also a new baby wash called cleansing therapy. It has oatmeal in it. It might work better than the claming baby wash.

My 6 year has it. We use Aveeno skin relief moisturizing lotion. It works great for her. We use it every day.My dr said when you use the hydrocortizone cream make sure you use sunscreen too. That cream can make him/her easier to burn.

My daughter has really bad eczema. We soak her in oatmeal bath from Aveeno. It helps with the itching. Your peditrictian can prescribe a slightly higher dose of hydrocortizone if it is really bad. I have not tried that yet but it will help prevent it from becoming infected. Every night I try to put the Aveeno lotion that is designed for eczema. There is also an intense relief lotion that is new and it seems to help.
