found this on the web somewhere and thought id post it. LOL!

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog.

Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened. He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?' She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?' 'Yes,' was his incredulous reply. She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'

Isn't that the truth! Unless you stop doing what you do all day, they don't get it. I thought about writing down every thing I do during a day just to prove to my husband that I don't sit around and watch soaps all day, but I am too busy to write it all down! LOL

It also rings true with us emotionally....... and if we don't allow others to see us cry/break down...then everyone thinks we have it easy...It's just that crying part I am trying to get down....journaling helps with this though.

soo funny! I read that awhile ago and i never get tired of reading it! When I was pregnant, when my husband would come home and I was with my two little ones, he would say just that "what did you do all day?" and I would say "I grew a brain, a few more cells, some muscles and kept a heart beating all day!" .... because I was pregnant... what did you do? Usually that worked for a little while :)

I ♥ LOVE this! I am a stay at home wife/mom and my husband rags on me for not answering a text or something with in a "timely" manner... Perhaps I will take a little advice from this story and not do what I do every day. Thanks for sharing made my day better.

Mine used to ask me that a lot too.... Not as much now that he is not working either (just got out of the military) but it still gets annoying. He seems to think I should ignore the kids needs to get the housework done and that is just not me!

HAHAHA that's amazing!!!!! so true too...SAHMs get judged all the time, not just by their husbands, but by all these people who have no idea how much work it actually is. i always say to people, your work ends at 5pm, i have a 24/7 job!

Love it! The reality of stay - at - home moms. It's the silliest question, but it's true. Next time someone asks I should memorize this story to tell them. Wow, did she actually do this?

I'd love to do that! Brilliant thank you for sharing. My husband has never asked me the question, but I can tell he thinks it some times. One afternoon I had to go to the hospital, so he offered to look after the kids (2 and 5 months) and work from home - I couldn't help but laugh on the inside at this idea, but took him up on the offer. When I came home he seemed quite amazed that he hadn't been able to do any work! But at least he now has a better idea of what my day is like.

It's funny.....like it a lot. Imagine if I can do it one day, as a suorise to my husband. I don't think he will care and went straight to bed.

My hubby was laid off for about 3 weeks a couple of yrs ago....I made him do EVERYTHING with me....dishes, laundry, cleaning, and the biggest....running the kids everywhere.....by the time he got called back to work, he was like "thank god, I need a break!" now, even if the house looks like a tornado hit it (6kids lol) he NEVER mentions one word about it. He even tells people that I work much harder than he does...gotta love him!

i wish i could do that for just one day.

i get the "what did you do all day?" question all the time... but not from my husband. i get it from my mom or friends (who aren't married or have kids) that want to be stay at home moms. it's so annoying. what business is it of theirs what i do all day.
