My 8 month old wants to eat solids. He eats pureed baby food. He also eats toast, cheerios, peas, cheese, cut up banana and cut up avocado. He does not have teeth yet. What else are moms feeding their babies?

My 8 month old son still eats mostly the pureed baby food, but seems very ready to move on to more table food. He has 3 teeth and a 4th coming through. He likes puffs, cheerios, Kix, little pieces of bread, crackers, small pieces of banana, and green beans. We also have the mesh thing where you can put fruit inside and he can chew on it. Over the weekend we gave him cantelope in it, and he loved it!!

Thanks Julianne! Kaiser says Cheese is okay as long as its not soft cheese. He has tried mozzerella and seems to be okay. I would like to try egg but they say to wait for a year. Does your son have teeth?

Thanks! I thought about organic refried beans or black beans but I wasn't sure what age he could handle them either. I like the frozen cut up squash and carrot idea. A handful at a time makes it really easy.

I give mine.... mashed potatoes or even cut up potatoes, watermelon, grapes cut into quarters, blueberries halved, raspberries, gerber graduates puffs & wheels, Baby mum mum cookies, farley cookies, couscous, whole grain rice, steamed pretty much until it's mush but still whole but cut into smaller pieces.. broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, corn, asparagus. And he gets small cut up pieces of chicken and ham.
Just watch them as they eat it for the first time if they start to choke or swallo it whole, wait a few days and try it again if they do fine then just keep on giving it to them
also watch with the cheese American Paedratic Assoc. says they cant handle dairy yet... helps in developing milk protein allergies as they get older..

Try sweet potato, squash and carrots. You can microwave the sweet potato and dice into small pieces and either you eat the rest or save for tomorrow or freeze. The carrots and squash I bought the diced frozen ones and only defrosted a handful at a time. My kids loved beans (organic chick peas and black beans) but I am not sure at what age I started them. He does not need to be eating a wide variety at this age. Good luck!
