Does anyone know adverse effects of giving a 9-month-old Fluvirin? My pediatrician assured me my daughter's flu shot was thimerosal-free, but I fear she administered Fluvirin instead of Fluzone. Long story... Please let me know if I should be taking immediate action. If so, what would that be??? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, all, for your help. I think my biggest concern was that the Fluvirin is intended for children age four, and older. I didn't know if there was anything to worry about there. Thanks again!

You could try checking out the CDC website (center for disease and control). You can also check out your states health site. I live in Minnesota so I could look under Minnesota Department of Health. I am a pediatric nurse and know Fluvirin is preservative free. Most pediatric vaccines have never contained thimerosal or have been preservative free ( thimerosal-trace amounts) since 2001. What makes you think they gave Fluvirin instead of Fluzone? I don' think there is anything you can do at this point unfortunatly. You can go to your local library to look at a PDR (physicians desk reference) or a The Red Book. Both will have information about the vaccines including side effects. Hope that helps!

Maybe poison control would know 1-800-222-1222. Good luck!
