FREE TIME!!!! WHAT IS THAT????
On a more serious note, when I MAKE time for me, I usually spend it catching up on my reading. I subscribe to about 6-7 magazines, all mom related or household or crafts and I checked last week and i still had a Better Homes & Gardens from December in a box that i haven't even opened...LOL! again: Free Time, not sure what that is! :)

Read, catch up on the news on the internet, research stuff on the internet (don't have time or the stores to go to for best prices), garden, veg out with the tv or netflix, try to organize all the digital photos in digital scrapbooks, talk on phone with friends, have 'playdates' with moms over, etc.

It varies for me. I go through phases. Whatever is easiest, doesn't take much time, sometimes brainless, and whatever I'm in the mood for.

Cleaning is over rated. I'm to busy throughout the day with my kids. I try and have the house picked up by the time my husband comes home and sometimes dinner ready. Enjoy your kids now and yourself now. Housework will always be there. Your sanity might not be.

AAAAWWWWW! "Free time" LOL! I started sewing and making bows for my little girl. It is very relaxing and creative(which I'm not really!) I did a lot of research on youtube and the internet and got a ton of ideas! I tried scrap booking, but it wasn't my thing.... Like I said, not TOO creative. Sometimes, I just sit on the recliner and listen to music and soak up the QUITE! Good luck, enjoy your precious time. :)

PARENTS RARELY HAVE TYME TO THEMSELVES... Haha, good question and some good suggestions. I know exactly how you feel and every time I do find myself with a spare moment in which I don't know what to do with myself, I keep thinking, "I really MUST find something to do other than sit on the computer and waste time on facebook". Whenever my 15 mo is napping I usually try and get some sleep myself, being 28 weeks pregnant. And I guess once #2 arrives I probably won't have the problem of wondering what to do with myself! But there are certainly some great suggestions here to keep in mind for later =)

When my LO is napping time seems to just fly by, I tend to just have the time to go online, do research, Facebook, email, chat on the phone or have a tea or a rest, nothing really productive happens which is dissapointing. I am an artist and have been wanting to get back into my painting, 12months on after the birth of our LO and I just seem to get busier with him all the time, I wonder will I ever get the time to sit down and paint...maybe when he starts school.

I enjoy making new friends on FB & Twitter and see if anyone is interested in my Home Based Business I do part-time because I help care for my elderly Mother otherwise I'd do my business Full-time. Chairettie and Chrissy, I am exactly where you gals are. My mind is always racing and yesterday when I tried to do some deep breathing, I realized my shoulders were hunched up which sadly has become my normal state of being. So tense. I am known to do laundry at 3am etc because I awoke and the mental race began. Ladies, we need to achieve what these other wonderful moms have achieved and learn to block out the never-ending to-do-list. Accept a level of mess and chaos and relax during our power hour(s). From these suggestions, I will be doing some reading, movie watching and talking on the phone. Maybe some napping myself too. I am tirrrrred.

Paint my nails (been wanting to do it for weeks!), sort through my clothes and figure out a new wardrobe or how to revamp things. Sew. Bake. Plan my life smarter by looking online for how to make it easier. Ex: purging, downsizing, looking for simpler, easier to cook meals that still have all the nutrients and a wide variety of veggies (making my own cookbookscrapbook for it), scrapbooking, making jewelry, gardening...... it is really endless. Lately I read a book and have been addicted to Suduko as its easy fun and I can put it down if my son wakes up. I also watch stand up comedies during this time and a few girly romance movies so hubby doesnt have to. I like the odd, independent, off the wall ones like Into The Wild, EatPrayLove or Pride and Prejudice.

But for a long time I didn't know what to do with the freetime I was gifting myself. When my son would sleep longer than an hour I'd stare at a wall and think....... what happened to ME? I have free time and don't want to do aaaaaanything hahaha I think that was the funniest realization, the one you just had!!!! :D I'm there with you honey!

LOL... that is a very good question Nicky! I did the exact same thing you did - I have twins so any nap time I ran around like the mad woman doign anything and everything trying to maintain it all and it too 8 months of that for me to say I am EXHAUSTED... but now that I allow myself to sit and try to relax I think of all the things that aren't getting done. When I wake up too early my mind starts to wonder about what I have to do that day and that is the end of my sleep no matter how dark it is outside :o( I use to read but my mind just can't relax enough to do that these days....

When i have "free time" i read a book, sew or write. Lately since my kids are older and we no longer really do a nap time after the daily chores are done we play on the wii :-) I recently just made all new curtains for the upstairs part of my house, granted it toook a while to complete them all because i did so in my "free time" but it was well worth it and it gave my upstairs a new look :-)
