I have a lot of stuff going on when I'm not pregnant, so I suffer heartburn 24/7. I take a prescribed medicine called Nexium.
When pregnant, it's a bit NO to taking Nexium ... I was beside myself, because I get it soooo bad and even worse when pregnant. My doctor prescribed me a category B (tested on pregnant women) drug called Rani 2 which I'm under the impression that it's called Zantac in the USA (I'm in Australia) ... I think people have mentioned it in above posts.
I tell you, it was a godsend! LOL

Try the vinegar!! It isn't the most pleasant of things and the first time I tried it I threw up (and I like vinegar) but it really does work. I suffer from horrible heart burn and it was 100 times worse while I was pregnant and that was the only thing that worked for me. I would drink a shot of it and within minutes my heartburn would be gone. Good luck!

This sounds funny but I had the same thing with my last 2 pregnancies and I ate peppermint ice cream and it worked. Also buy a bag of the hard peppermint lifesavers and suck on them after a meal or buy peppermint gum :) I aslo found eating small meals helped my heartburn... Hope you get relief soon!!! God bless :)

When I was pregnant with my 3rd Zantac worked really well. With my 4th, Pepcid did the trick. I've also heard that you can mix baking soda with water & drink it to get rid of heartburn. BTW - I've used the generic versions of both zantac & pepcid & they work just as well as the name brand.

Gaviscon Liquid Soother works in seconds and stays...also cut down on your acidity intake...tomatoes, vinegar etc.... also keep snacking throughout the day which will ensure that your stomach is digesting something instead of nothing....Good luck

Have you tried Ultimate Aloe Juice?
See, when you take tums/rolaids, or prescription antacids - what happens is, they get rid of the acid alright - they basically strip all the acid out of your stomach - immediate relief, etc. BUT then what happens is your body goes - oh no acid - i need to make up for that -- and in floods twice as much acid -- beefore you know it you become infested with acid, you get erosions in your esophagus, ulcers, and some people even get cancer.
Ultimate Aloe Juice -- think about what the aloe plant can do for us externally, imagine what it can do internally. This helps: balance the ph in your body (more even - tones down the acid), helps boost your immune system - and helps repair the collegen, and "heals" you internally.
If you would like more information on this product - send me a message, and i will send you the link -- it will give you all the info you need: benefits, uniqueness, label, ingredients, etc.
Take care Tiffany,
I hope you find what you are looking for, and get much needed relief soon!
PS - im 35 weeks pg. and this product has helped me tremendously with the heart burn that i sometimes get! And its almost immediate relief at hand, and the relief lasts a long time for myself. (this is my results, everyone varies)

My advice would be to eat plain foods. Like crackers, water, toast, milk. Sometimes there towards the end you just can avoid it. Also, wait a few hours after you eat to lay down. I've had problems with waking up with puke in my mouth and found that if I wait a while after I eat to lay down that it doesn't happen. I hope you find something that helps! :)

I had Bad heartburn with all 3 Kids and the only thing that worked instantly was 1/4 cup of water with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Sounds terrible and taste salty but within a minute you do some burps and its gone. Good Luck :)

If you want to go the all natural way, get some Ginger or Peppermint drops and add them to warm tea or milk. You should be able to get both herbal supplements at a local vitamin shop. Some vitamin shops carry the ginger in like a hard candy form....just whatever you prefer. I am really into herbs and oils...there are a few oils that you can use, too, that are safe duing pregnancy.. Let me know if you are interested in those.

Hello, I had a nasty bout of heartburn after I had my first child. Turned out that it wasn't heartburn, after the Maalox, Zantac 75 (before it was over the counter!)..Tums, and of course Milk..Turned out I had Gall Stones in my Gall Bladder, and after I had it removed, I had no more heartburn...ask you doctor if it continues, and notice when it comes on ie: greasy, spicy, foods can make the triggers of heartburn..but it could be something else, check with your doc just to rule everything out!!..hope that this works for you...good luck!

I had it really bad also so bad it made me cry. When I talked to the Dr. he said to take Tums and Rolaids that really help me I took it like candy but it worked.I would ask your Dr. before taking Zantacor anything other than Tums or Rolaids.

v8 fusion! it worked wonders for me with my last pregnancy. it comes in some really great fruit flavors, I think it was pomegranate blueberry that I always drank. nice and cold, it coats your stomach without making you nauseous, like everything else seemed to. good luck!

well, i have a couple....drink pickle juice....the vinigar neutralizes the acid in your stomach....it may cause you to belch which is what you need.....next, is drink a fresh lemon squeezed in a a cup of warm water.....the lemon juice will make your body become alkaline instead of acidic.....it is a good thing to drink on a regular basis to keep your system straight and prevent future attachs....good luck..

I know how you feel. I had tried all the meds that you could take while pregnant and none of them worked so I got into the habit of 2 tums and a glass of milk before bed and slept with my head proped up a little and took Zantac on a daily basis also.

I had heartburn with both my pregnancies and used Tums and Pepcid AC during the last few months. I took Pepcid AC before I ate. I also noticed that if my stomach was empty the heartburn would start, so I tried to not let too much time go by without having something in it. Also spicy foods would bring on the heartburn.

Have your Dr give you a script for Zantac, so you dont have to spend the money out of pocket the insur. well cover it if a dr says you need it..And if that dont work try over the conter Papaya tablets they work to, just munch on them after your meals..it works for me.
