I had heartburn\acid reflux during my first pregnancy REALLY bad! My doctor told me about something called Gaviscon. Worked like a dream! I know everyone is different, but it's worth a shot! It's not too expensive... I think it was like $8 per bottle and I found it at WalMart... Hope you find something that works for you soon!

chewing gum worked for me. I also like the idea of trying another acid....I don't like perscription or otc drugs. good luck.

this is weird, but it works for me - imagine biting into a lemon - or a lime or pineapple, or a tomato or anything acidic. do this for a minute or so - your mouth will start to salivate and your stomach will produce the enzymes to digest the food you are thinking about - the saliva will have a lower ph which will neutralize the acid in your stomach (and I can feel it fighting down the stuff coming up my throat) - this is temporary, but can help until you can get to something more long-term. good luck

I had terrible heartburn during pregnancy. My midwife finally recommended that I take Prilosec, and it worked wonders!

Chew gum right after you eat for about a half hour or so after each meal.. it really helps.

Tagamet works too. Also, try to keep moving for a bit after eating, things will move through and out of your stomach a bit quicker. Then there is always elevating the head of your bed, like bricks under the legs, for when you are sleeping. I feel your pain and wish you at least a bit of comfort.

Nexium works too. You will have to ask your doctor though. I had to get it with my last 3 pregnancies.

Try Chia seeds. You can get them at health food stores or Whole Foods or Trader Joes
Markets. They help.

I used this and it works like a dream. It's relatively cheap $14.99 for 80 chewable tablets and it's over the counter. It's called: Mommy's Bliss Pregnancy Heartburn Comfort and this is the web page where you can find it and purchase it. http://store.sproutbaby.com/product-p/me... This website has a ton of very good products for before, during, and after pregnancy as well as things for the baby.

well if youre in the US you can get generic zantac or the brand name by the bottle. i payed about 8 dollars for a 50 count bottle generic at cvs pharmacy. they gave it to my 4 yo nephew when he was having stomach issues and my pregnant friend too. check with your dr. tho first. it worked wonders for me.

I had KILLER heartburn throughout my entire pregnancy. My doc wrote me a RX for Nexium. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. It immediately put an end to my heartburn and it was totally safe for my baby. Ask your doctor if that's something you can try. Lots of luck and congratulations!

I've used a glass of milk everytime I get a heartburn and it works, and heartburns comes from gallstones, check yourself out for it!

The only thing that worked for me was a bottle of antacid called Peptac Liquid i got it from my doctor. I tried everything and it was the only one that worked my heartburn was so bad i used to sit and cry it made me feel so sick. I also avoided spicy foods and propped myself up really well in bed or if i was lying down because when i was flat it was really bad.

ZANTAC, ZANTAC, ZANTAC!!! I can't say it enough or stop promoting it to pregnant ladies. It is the only thing (and I mean it when I say only!!) that worked for me and I used it from the 3month mark to the end if I didn't take them the heartburn would come back and it was that bad I would vomit!! I agree with all the mothers who say ZANTAC, ZANTAC, ZANTAC!!! I don't know where you live but in Australia you can get it over the counter at most chemists.

Are you pregnant? Have you asked your OB to give you something for it? There are stronger options than Zantac that they can prescribe if that is not enough.

I had the same problem. I started to stay away from grease and rich food, eat a lot of fruits, specially an apple, and vegetables, in other words try to clean your digestive system, and you'll see a big difference. Good luck!

Im sure you have tried it but before you eat try taking rolaids, or tums.. personally tums worked better for me.. I only got heartburn at night, and from 7-9months prego i woke up puking until i decided to take 2-3 tums before i went to bed n it helped alot. also try to monitor wat u eat, n if it has alot of acid or not. If you have it only at night like i did try to eat crackers as the last thing u eat b4 u go to bed... hope everything works out for u,

I had it with both times. The second time I tried drinking a lot of water when I got it, and it seemed to help. Didn't take it away completely but it did help.

My doctor prescribed Doxylamine (its and over the counter sleeping pill) You could talk to your doctor about it. It has to be cut up to a smaller dose than the original sleeping pill dose so don't get it and try it without talking to your doctor first though. It not only stopped my heartburn but the morning sickness as well. Hope this helps.

milk, & elevating my head with an extra pillow was the only thing that controlled my heartburn for long enough to get a semi decent sleep, when pregnant with shantelle.

I alternated Gaviscon and Maylox (spelling?); They are two different types of bicarbonate so you can take a (different) one every two hours.

I didn't have heartburn unless I was lying down - and found that elevating the head of our bed by about 6 inches helped alot - just put blocks of wood (wide ones!) under the feet of your bed at your head side. Good luck X

I had horrible heart burn with this last pregnancy... and I know it sounds odd but sprite the dr said that because it put some air in the top of the stomach it kept the burn down...but i could only drink a little at a time.

My girlfriend also has terrible heartburn, she also used Zantac. That worked great for her she also used baking soda and water. I believe the recipe is on the baking soda box. Of course check with your doctor first!

try a teaspoon of vinager. i know it sounds awful but adding acid will encourage your stomach to stop over producing it. pickle juice works too and tastes better

I was told to take Zantac, but it was a chewable table that made me gag ! It worked wonders though. I also found when I couldn't stomach the tablet, sitting up right, rubbing my sternum (the bone between your breasts) and picturing a hunky firefighter putting out the burning in my chest *hehehe* worked really well too!

Zantac 75. My doc said it was OK to use. It's the only thing (I can take) that helps me. I take one about 1/2 hour before supper and that works. The directions say you can take one 1/2 hour before lunch too. The only time my heart burn is really bad is at nighttime, so I just do the eve one. Even if I forget to take it before supper I can take it an hour before bed and be OK. I bought mine at Wal Mart and I actually bought the off brand this last time. It has worked as well as the actual Zantac.
