My 11yrs oldson was diagnosed with OCD a couple of months back. He has been having symptoms for over 2 years. He follows rituals before bed such as touching, looking under the bed, touching railings etc.. etc.. He is seeing a psychologist. He is on 25mg of sertraline a day prescribed by his family doctor and we are waiting to see his pediatrician. It may take up to two months. I hope his psychologist helps him. He has been seeing him for about 2 months. I sometimes feel impatient and fear I am making things worse. I need to talk to other moms who understand.. Uggghhhh!! Do your children see psychologists who are specialized with ocd?

He is on a low dose but that is usually how it starts. If you see no improvement at a month, it may be time to talk to the doc about bumping him up a bit? Do not do it without your doctor's advice.

Hi! Well, he saw a psychologist who deals with children two years ago and it helped. She did not diagnose him with ocd but with high anxiety. Well symptoms returned with a vengeance. He is seeing a psychologist who deals with children and I am on a waiting list for a pediatrician. Thank you for your support. :) He has been on setraline for a month but I think his dose is very low?

Why did he not see a pediatrician from the start? Have he seen a pediatric psychiatrist? Sertraline will take a while to be effective and for sure will be best if combined with behavioral therapy to help him with his anxiety.
