Help!!! My 2 year old boy keep sticking random things up his nose! Mostly food but sometimes i will see him trying to stick a toy up there! I saw an episode on house just like it but I can not remember if he said what you can do to stop it other than watching him like a hawk! If anyone has gone through this please give me ideas that might help him stop!!!

My oldest son (now 7) stuck things up his nose...mostly m&ms, tic tacs, and donkey tail plant pieces. My youngest (now 2) has entered that very same phase. He recently got a tic tac stuck in his nose. I try not to make a big deal out of it because any exxagerated reaction (positive or negative) can make a child that age want to do it again. Try to stay calm, get the item out (the nurse told me to plug the other side of the nose and blow thru my childs mouth to help dislodge it) and relax...it is quite normal. Continue to talk to him about how he shouldn't do that even though you may feel like he doesn't understan. You can tell him if he wants to put anything in his nose, to put his elbow in it...he won't be able to and it can provide a good giggle without having to tell him no. Good luck!

Unfortunately, he is a slow learner and doesn't understand the consequences it may bring. I have tried to talk to him but I get no response.

My son stuck a toy dinosaur tail up his nose. The next weekend he swallowed a coin. I just had a talk with him and explained that we don't put things up our nose because it could get stuck. Have you tried explaining it to him? I get down to my sons level and tell him lets have a talk and he has responded very well. He has not done it since we had our talk. Hope this helps.
