I want to make my own baby food and I have never done this before...can anyone give me advice on which type of machine would be better to use. A baby food mill or just a regular food processor. Thank you for your help.

I LOVED making my own baby food, I have one more tip I haven't seen posted yet...I started with ice cube trays, but found that my daughter was eatting 2-3 cubes worth of food.  When she started eating more I switched to silicon mini-muffin pans. When they came out of the freezer they were MUCH easier to pop out into zip-locks and I could make larger batches with the muffin pans!  Have fun trying new flavors, it really is easy to do!

Thank you Janna for that tip, I was wondering what to use once he starts eating bigger portions.

I have always used a food processor. Also, I like to pour the baby food into ice cube trays and freeze it. From there you can put each cube (or 2) into its own bag, and voila! You have individual servings that you can microwave or take with you. It's a great trick!

I used a regular food processor.  You can freeze batches in the ice cube tray, store in a freezer bag, and pull out one or two cubes whenever you need it.  Good for you!

I used an immersion blender.  i found my big blender didn't puree enough.  I used plain ice cube trays and froze the food then popped the cubes out and put them in a freezer bag.

I used a regular food processor....just make sure that the veggies are really, really soft before blending so that you will not be stuck with chunks! The only thing I didn't attempt to blend was peas, green beans and corn....I heard these were hard to get the right consistancy for babies....??

Good luck :)

My sister talked me into getting a Magic Bullet for baby food and it worked great.  I found with it that i could turn out meal into my little guy's meal in about 10 sec.   I found it was nice to be able to make a smaller amount.

Hi there,

I make ALL my baby food with just a plain wand mixer i find it best because it is so easy to clean! The one I use is made by Braun and is 200 watt. Once I blend everything I twist the blade off and scrub it down with a bottle brush takes no time at all!!! Message me if you need any recipes or ideas!!

Good luck!! Amanda

I found that for big batches of baby food the food processor or an immersion blender work the best.
