Drop by unannounced! I used to work at a daycare and one thing I learned is they are not always as good as they seem. My kids will never go to a daycare again unless it's my own. They all say they do it for the kids but most of them do it for the money. I had 10-14 kids by myself at times because my boss didn't want to pay two people to be there but wouldn't stay and help. After a my friend and I quit she lost most of her kids because we did the diapers, sanitizing, crafts, outside time, preschool, everything. When we left all that stopped. When I went shopping around for a different daycare because I had a new job I found out that it's very common. Good daycares are very hard to find and even harder to get in. Good Luck.

By doing interviews with them. Set them up and then look at how the employees act before and after they know you are there. Ask about the daily duties of the employees, if it sounds like it's a bit much with the number of children that person has, it probably is. After your child is going to a daycare, watch interactions going on as you walk by windows inside and outside the building. If it doesn't feel right or isn't up to par in your opinion, then change daycare's and find the right one for you.
