see if one of you mom friends would like to watch them for an hour or so one day and in return you watch hers another time.

Do you have a tween or teenage girl in your area? I have a wonderful girl (who's 15) as a mother's helper.. Granted, it's not an alone break, but she plays with the children so I can get some things done.

Maybe if they are old enough malls have a drop off center to drop off kiddos for a little while then go get a mani-pedi or kick back in a coffee shop or something that way you are close to them but sill have some alone time out of the house.

I think this is a question we would all like the answer to. We have 4 children and no one wants to watch that many at one time LOL. It's hard for me and my hubby to even get to go out to dinner once in a blue moon. Both sets of our parents work all the time so they don't have much free time either. So is life as a parent I guess. I figure I'll get a day of rest in...oh, let's see...about 15 more years to go. SIGH

put a note up on community bulletin boards where people are always looking for things ,outside the grocery store, post office, library, etc.

A baby sitter? Someone from your church if you go to one? Post at a highschool or college?

Daycare. LOL. I'm trying to get my oldest into daycare one day a week so I have a day of peace with my baby. it wouldn't be so bad if my husband got home earlier or did a 4 on 4 off shift but nooo he changed to 5 on 2 off before the kids came along now the days are long and the weekends are short.

If you figure it out let me know. My parents work (and do what they can which isn't much) and my husbands parents are out of state. I am who everyone comes to when they need someone to take care of their kids. I think the best I have had some luck with was going to the rec center to workout and leave kids at child watch while I do it. It worked great until my son started speech therapy and I gave up my work out time for his speech appointment. My husband hasn't figured out why it's a problem that I don't get a break.

i have NO idea!! I NEVER get a break either. I have a 4yr old daughter and an 18mos old son. There are no sitters in our area available 90% of the time (very small town) and my parents and my hubbys parents dont help at all. Its been 3 or 4 mos since we hired a sitter (whom we will not be calling back.. not impressed at all) and she came AFTER the kids were put to sleep.

That is a tough one. It would be nice if hubby could help you out. Maybe hire an experienced baby sitter. They will get older and it will get better. I know that doesn't help now. I wish I had the answer for you. Good luck :)
